Cheers Mario, yes after such a large piece as the bust it is nice to be doing something a bit smaller.

Cheers Simon

To be honest,im also going to be very very happy when my figure is done, and get back to smaller figures and busts :)

After a lazy morning I got on with some painting. It doesn't show well on the pictures but I'm happier with the stable jacket, I added some glazing on the highlights with S75 Inktense Crimson and on the shade with Vallejo Cardinal Purple from their new Xpress Color range. It's more a deep red to crimson than anything resembling purple.

I added some detail to the cap lines, repainting with S75 Sahara Yellow and shading with Vallejo Smoke. The haversack was painted in Vallejo Light Brown, shaded with Vallejo Orange Brown and Smoke with highlights curtesy of Reaper Tanned Highlight.

I have made a start on the kepi which looks to be either in a black oilskin cover or is a separate black version for campaign or working dress. First a couple of coats of S75 Navy Blue, the shade was built up with S75 Deep Blue then S75 Black. I the applied several controlled washes of Deep Blue, reestablished the highlights and added a couple of controlled washes of Black. I wanted to make the black of the kepi distinct from the collar and cuffs which are also black but with a grey highlight.

Got to start on the sword, finish the kepi and maybe darken the shade on the stable jacket and he should be done.

Cheers Kev, the thought of doing the full dress version was rather daunting and I loved the reference illustration from the first time I saw it. Simple but colourful, what more could I want!

He has turned out really nicely, I love the relaxed pose you have for him.

Cheers Rob, I did cheat a bit the crossed ares are all plastic from a kit. I have done crossed arms before on a Scots Grey in stable dress where I sculpted the arms, it's not as convincing as this one.

Cheers Simon

it's always something he mate in life LOL ,but your figure is looking great ;)

Mario

I was always told, 'if at first you don't succeed, cheat' and if the crossed arms are available to be used I will use them. Thanks for your kind words mate.

Cheers Simon
