Stalingrad Sniper 2

These Sniper scenes are like English buses.....you wait for ages...then two turn up..!!!
Thought I'd do another little SBS on this one as I had the camera ready.
This is another interior scene painted in much the same way as my previous SBS . First I scribed the wood base with a scalpel to make sure things such as Pollyfilla and modeling clay would stick to it (Pollyfilla is a material used to fill in cracks in plaster walls..I suppose every one uses something similar)
When placing a wall, especially a corner piece...it always seems to look better at an angle to the base edges...and not straight on. I stick mine down with super glue...plaster and wood seem to like each other.
With this scene I wanted a bit of the floor boards to show,so I glued a piece of balsa wood down first, then roughly scribed the gaps of the boards with a sharp tool. To ensure a good fit of the figure and drum I was going to use, I pressed a few lumps of Das Modeling clay on to the base, then while it was still wet, pushed the figure and drum into it..these are easily removed after or just before the clay has set.
This then gives you an outline to avoid when placing the rubble..which I did using the Pollyfilla and thinned down PVA glue. (Tip....before adding the filler to water...add a little PVA to the water...this slows the filler drying time down which is handy when creating a large scene)
Next I painted the walls...rubble etc as explained in prev SBS..and added a little snow to corners and edges where it usually collects..though with this scene I wanted to show a recent snow fall...which I sprinkled onto the scene when everything was in place. For the snow I used Scenic snowflakes and icy sparkles from www.deluxmaterials.com.
And that's about it.... hope you like this second sniper scene...and for me...I think it's time for a change....may have a go at the guy these snipers are trying to shoot..!!! Figures are from ZVEZDA (not bad if you are prepared to do a few alterations/additions to them) and are 54mm.
ps...if you have any Christmas crackers left...save the box as they usually have a clear cellophane front to them...great to use as glass for any scale...!!

The sniper with part of his rifle out, would be an easy target.

Hi Steve , once again mate really well done , I like the way the sniper blends in with the painted rubble , I think I was once told while learning such a thing as this was " shape, shadow ,shine, silhouette, texture " when concealing yourself and you’ve done it all .

Hi Steve, Nice little vignette here, haven't seen this type of set up before with the maniquin as a draw card for other snipers to show them selves. Great stuff.
