This is the MasterClass (deja vu series) I always wanted to paint ever since I saw Cartacci's box art. I didn't use historical guidelines to paint this guy only how I wanted to paint him for my collection. The freehand on the shield was tons of fun to paint and is to show his torment and why he is looking for what he calls justice when it is really revenge that he seeks. Please post any thoughts or comments good or bad. thanks for checking him out!

Mike, the tunic (back) looks awesome with the fabric lines, and love the shield and metals (y)

Kickin' base too!

Only thoughts..
The lighting in the photos touch bright giving the piece specular highlights.. was a flash used?

It maybe part of the sculpting but here goes...
A little highlighting of the outside tendon behind the knee [biceps femoris tendon] (a) would be a nice touch and the highlighting of the soleus (b) is extends a tad too high, actually the flipping of highlight (b) to the position (a) would be keen.

I hope that makes sense! ;)

I see you managed to get the nubile women in there. This is a wonderful piece of painting, you're just getting better with every figure.
Carl.

Thanks guys for the comments! Gordy, it does make sense and I apprciate the time you took to point it out. I need to look at this little area and see what I can do to improve it. You really point out the importance of knowing anatomy and placing volume in the correct place. It turns out paint is a very powerful illusion creator. I'm also glad you could see the fabric lines, this isn't the first time I tried doing this but the first time it didn't get painted over. Well Mr. barton, I had to keep the theme up somehow! Thanks for noticing. Thanks again for the comments I really appreciate your time. Oh, about the flash. I did not use a flash so maybe my lighting was too strong or my highlites too high?

It's gorgeous and is a brilliant work, Mike.
The color of the tunic is very wonderful.
Indeed the design of the shield is also Great.
A wonderful masterpiece.
I congratulate completion.

Mitsutaka.
