Hi all,
Here is the latest project, it's Young Miniatures Lucky Jack I believe it's 1/10th scale. My other WIP projects had a bit of an accident with some wood stain and had to be stripped so I decided to start something new.
I'm trying to go with the subtle route again but with a little more contrast than the last bust I tried this with. I think the skin tones are just about done, I've tried to make him a little tanned from being at sea, he is painted all in acrylics. Any input or advice would be great, I'm finding it a little difficult to keep the subtlety but still have enough contrast.

Cheers,
Andrew.

He's lookin pretty good so far! an idea without looking at any references might be to add some rosyness to the cheeks. Im sure being outside in the wind all day long he probably had a perminent wind burn of some kind. That might also add to the contrast you are looking for. I would think any sailors face would be pretty beat up from sun, wind, etc.

Great start Andrew, but in my opinion you can stretchen up the contrast.
Give more high's will do.....really.
Look at our clubwebsite, member Ronny Corne did the same bust in acrylic.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
After reading the input and looking at the photos of yesterday's work I decided he needed a little more work on the skin. Ive tried to make him a little redder in the cheeks and put a little more highlights on the face, here is the result. I also did the eyes, blocked in the hair and jacket. Hopefully the result is better than before.
Feel free to comment,

Andrew

Good work Andrew,
If i may, i'll stay with my comment to do more highlight. Tip of the nose, nostrils, upperside of the cheekbone. A small line upon the lower eyelid where it is reddish at the moment.
This will give him more depth and character.
The give him some more red on the cheeks have give allready more.

Marc

Yep, I'm detecting the facial hair line, very subtle and well done. Looks great! And the eyes look great and tired.

Cheers, Ski.

Thanks for taking the time to comment guys.
At the end of today this is where I'm at. I did some more work on the skin, got the vest, shirt and hat nearly done. I need to work on the jacket yet but he is nearing completion.
Let me know if you see something that needs to be fixed up.

Andrew.

There is a small spot gold on the blue that i believe shouldn't be there. Second fringe on the left shoulder. But it could be the angle of the picture.
On the right epaulette is also a small spot gold that i should do in blue.

Marc

Wow, I really like, what you've done so far!
Allways thought, what a nice bust, but the paintjob on the promo kinda overdid it to me. Your version comes along much nicer to me, so far.

Thanks for showing
Cheers
Dirk
