Not a lot of documention on this subject.
It seems that it was the 2 Spanish Dragons Regiment (ALMASA & VILLACIOSA) part of the Romana Division sent to Denmark after the (forced) agreements of Carlos IV with Napoleon.
These Regiments were still wearing their Hunters Uniforms, with Colback for Elite Company.

Thanks Luc for your review of this bust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic documentation and plates of Suhr´s brothers.
Dragoons fought in Denmark into the Romana expeditionary Army and some spanish officer of this Army Corp gained the french condecoration "Légion d´honneur".
With the French total intervention in the Spanish life (1808), this expeditionary Army returned to Spain in Brithis ships.

Do not forget only VILLACIOSA & ALMANSA seems to wear these hunters (Cazadores) unifrom (

Uniformity of dragons
The eight regiments of dragoons are a bigger problem than other units on horseback. The reason for this is that all the regiments of dragoons were extinguished in 1802, and converted into regiments of hunters on horseback, or hussars. Subsequently, the aforementioned Royal Order dated April 10, 1805 again raising these regiments. It is possible that this new organization already existed in fact months before, according to the information point and Alonso Gomez Ruiz Juanola in his work already cited. Another question is whether the corresponding uniformities (indicated in the previous RO) came to dress. It is true that two regiments (Almansa and Villaviciosa) traveled to Denmark with the North Division and again converted into dragons. And it is also true that in any drawing, or in those of the brothers Suhr, or those of Rugendas, is the uniform of 1805. All figures of these two regiments are uniformed as hunters.
According to the RO 1805, she stated in uniformity for each dragons regiments is shown below.

There is a discrepancy between sources should explain here. Ordovás draws all the doors and turns lemon yellow, while the state Military laps as 1806 draws both doors the same color as the flap. As we can see so far, no body had the turns the same color as the coat. In discussing RO "bueltas with door" , but without specifying the color, and it seems that the color back and the door was the jacket, something quite unusual, as I have written. In his magnificent work Juanola Alonso Gómez Ruiz and indicate the color of the back door and equal to the flap, and I followed them for this work.
In 1805, the RO is mentioned for all regiments a "cloak" lemon yellow. Although no representations or I have more data on it, it seems that would be a model identical to that of the cavalry line.

Dragons, as interpreted by Ordovas. The first on the left is the Queen's Regiment. It is good idea to compare this picture with the State Military, 1806, which has a higher level of detail.

Broadly two drawings show the same figure. The hat is a white-laced cocked hat, not as high as we saw that looked line cavalry with red cockade, loop and button. The jacket, long, shows a vertical portfolios "to the flange" with four buttons. The panty is tucked inside a black legging, which have been subjected spurs. These riders do not fit boots. In between takes legging pants and white linen garment (called "dust"), in order to protect the uniform and leg rubbing.
It can be seen that all the eyelets are gallons flap. This is common to all the regiments of dragoons.
In this picture you can see with MA bearing the emblem detail dragons neck. Just as the line infantry (at least in 1802) bore the fleur de lys, and line cavalry as emblems of the lion body, to dragons emblem was a laurel and a straight sword crossed over each other. This emblem was embroidered in white thread or silver.
As Ordovás stop coloring turns, but it does with the liner, the drawing on the right shows the twists and the doors of its color, but can see the lining.

Good information, Luc.
There is an erratum in the name of the regiment. It's Villaviciosa, not Villialocia.

Yes, Luc, it occurs.
The history of these units under the command of the Marqués de la Romana is quite interesting.
They were sent to Denmark as part of the effort to complete the Continental Blockade, as Spain was allied of France then. The news about the uprising against France in Spain surprised them there, spread in various locations. They finally contacted with the British fleet through some spies. The key was an Ovidius poem that the Marquis and an Scottish priest had been discusing years before in the Balearic Islands, homeland of the Marquis. So most of them embarked in british ship back to Spain.

Thanks Diegoof, iknow well the history of the Romana Division.
What is most confuse, are the uniforms worn.
I find documents concerning the VILLAVICIOSA Regiment, sure this regiment wear the Hunter uniform.
For the ALMANSA it's more difficult, we know only that Trumpeters were this uniform.
But this bust can be painted as a trumpeter also... Why not...Elite Company have also Trumpeter !

Great review Rigaud.
Thank you for bringing all of this detailed information together.
The bust is superb in its form and detail, a very nice piece.
Very best regards,
Keith
