Hope to have some comments on the uniform, right or wrong

Hi Marc,
He is really taking shape and looking great.
Here is a square of Gordon tartan if you do not have a picture of it. The squares or set as it is called are about 150mm. So you should paint your 1:9 scale stripes at about 16.6mm.
I hope that this helps you out.
Cheers,
Keith

Thanks Keith,
That whas the info I whas looking for.
So there be not much squares then. ;)
Are the measurements of the set with or without the black stripes???

I have this one as a reference

Mark your figure (bust) is looking very good. The tartan behind the badge should be the same as the set for the pipes but I think the capbadge set would be slightly smaller.
The chanter and drones are black with ivory mouthpiece and ivory connections on the drones.
Chanter is the smaller blowing pipe, Drones are the musical (?) pipes

Hi Marc,
I alwas use the centre of the green stripes to make my grid size.
So I do as you have start with dark blue. Then the green, brighter at the cross overs. After this the more difficult black lines finishing with the yellow.
If you look carefully at the pattern all of the stripes form squares of the same size apart from the black stripes. which follow a different pattern.
As you say there are not too many squars to paint
If you need more help give me a shout Marc.
Good luck Mate,
all the best,
Keith

Mark after some brain racking I remember now. The black wood on the pipes was made from Ebony. Quite a delicate thing to tune a set of pipes but just lovely to listen too.
Biggest Massed Band I have ever heard was 2,400 pipers and drummers, heard nothing for days afterwards.

Marc it's coming along brilliantly, what Don's describing is the mouthpiece and blowpipe and stock. The chanter is actually the pipe that has the fingerholes and is held in both hands. Where the common error occurs is that for practice you can remove both from their stocks and the bag and fit the mouthpiece to the chanter. Because of this most people have come to think of the mouthpiece as the chanter.
Still following with interest (y)
Cheers

Looking great Marc, especially the face.

BTW, Do you know the difference between the Bagpipes and an onion?........
.......No one cries when someone chops up the Bagpipes............. :nailbiting::blackeye: .

Hi Marc. Saw this one last week live. Is an amazing paintjob. I like the contrasts on the uniform very much.
Wish you luck with the backpipes
