Hello friends!

It's been long ago since I painted something. I am more into sculpting but sometimes I have a sudden necessity to change a bit my usual work :)

Last weekend I was invited for a short sculpting masterclass at Lviv Scale Model Fest and I took all my grey army out of the boxes. Among them was Athena, a bust sculpted by me a year ago for Alexandros Models. I remember starting painting the metals and whites but after I abandoned her because of the huge amount of sculpting work. This time in this wonderful season I felt the necessity to paint her! So here we go! I attach first two photos (sorry for the quality...still can't manage the settings of the phone in order to show the real result, in a picture she is a bit more pale than in reality)

I seen some really wonderful versions of her, some were more fantasy and some more classical. Some artists painted her as if she was transforming from the bronze statue into a Goddess

In my case I decided to paint her in more classical version. I am working on the pale skin tones and transparency of the chiton. Nevertheless I want Aegis to look more fantastic, not as a simple metal.

Lots of work ahead but I hope this bust will turn out nice! Thanks for watching!
All comments and tips are welcome!

Homer praises Athena's eyes describing them as deep, mysterious and at the same time predatory and frightening, that's why he calls her "Γλαυκομάτα"meaning the one with eyes like an owl!You have certainly proved him right.A bust like this would be venerated in a temple if it existed today.Brilliant!

Oda.
