Finally finished this excellent oldie from David Grieve now available from Gra at CGS Military Figures. This one took me a while but I have to say I am pretty pleased with it. I definitely see progress with each figure I complete. This one was painted mainly in artists acrylics but I also used some Humbrol enamels and oils.

This is a real cracker my friend, well done you
For so many fine lines on this complex jacket and drum emblazoning you have kept it beautifully clean and sharp.
I am very pleased with what you have achieved here and hope that you are too.

Happy 2017 to you too Pete.
It is good to see your confidence growing on this difficult casting. I am not sure that I can take any credit for your skill here here when it's you sticking to it and the old adage practice practice practice. You have moved on in leaps and bounds.
With Mr Mason.....I have a head from my friend Offo that I think I can work on to get a likeness. Kevin sent me his Billy Mott Bearskin with it's lining that he had added. I beefed it up a bit and changed the plume. to the right hand side. I could not find many photos so I am basing mine on the painting where he is holding the bearskin.
Your first and not only tasks should you choose to take it on, Can you tell me what the plume is made of; horse hair or feather? Also do you know what medals he has been awarded?

A Warrant Officer's plume is made of cut feathers. The final gong count for Mr. Mason was MVO, MBE, General Service Medal and golden jubilee medal. I believe he had a run in or two with the authorities when he was a young soldier so he didn't qualify for the LS&GC. Talk about poacher turned gamekeeper! Pictures attached might help with the plume.

Thanks for the info and pictures, they are a great help.
The poacher turned gamekeeper was a surprise. I always thought he was a straight down the line WO.

I did paint that one when David first released it in the early 90s. I haven't got around to getting Gra's re-release as yet. It's on the list but there are many competing priorities:).
