    Guard Artillery Officer uniform help

Lamp, You are pretty much stuck with this one if you intend to do an Imperial Guard Horse Artillery Officer. You could do the gloves and boots in black, but that would make it even more dull. Now, with a little re-sculpt and change here and there you could simply do him as an Hussar officer...

    anniversary vienna 1683

Dario, I celebrated (well, at least REMEMBERED) with you and I salute your ancestor! I love the Polish army from this period and King Jan! As I refer to him, "The Savior of Christendom" (and Europe)! About 15 years ago this period was a passion of mine. Though information was harder to find...

    Our Cuirassier is finished.

Thanks for your kind words, Roc. I am glad to help anyone anytime! :) I am sincere in my compliments about your horse! So often you will see a beautiful rider with a so-so horse, but I really like yours - especailly the way you painted and captured the face. Justin :)

    Our Cuirassier is finished.

Roc, I love the horse! You've captured it wonderfully - especially the eyes which make the face! The hooves turned out great, too! From the way it is positioned, it looks as though the unsuspecting soldier is about to be nudged (or pushed over ;) ) by his faithful mount! Bravo and well...

    Russian technique for painting figures.

Einion, I do indeed respect your technical knowledge regarding the materials we use. Out of this respect I did not intend or mean any condescension in any of my remarks. If it came across that way then I do apologize. My remarks were sincere and contained nothing hidden. Having traveled...

    Russian technique for painting figures.

Einion, You are fixating on one remark (10 years), taken out of context. Once again, read my post and the following post referring to subtle humor and emoticons. ( The unfortunate side of the internet is that we can't actually hear one another speak.) IF you remember I did initially say...

    Russian technique for painting figures.

Einion, You , more or less, restated what I said. And two years might be enough if you have a gift/talent for it and spend the time I mentioned refining it. I am speaking from first-hand knowledge of painters & iconographers my wife knows in Russia and simply stating facts but trying to...

    Russian technique for painting figures.

Einion has summed it up best! If you ever get an article by one of the really GOOD paintes from Russia, it'll reveal no "secrets" other than proper training and schooling as an artist (over the period of a decade, more likely) and innate talent (which allowed the education to continue, by the...

    La Fortenza Preview

IT seems to me (beased on the photos, mind you) that more and more of the armoured miniatures are becoming more and more dispraportionate with regards to hands, arms, feet and lower-legs. Meaning: the diameter of the armour on the arm and legs is too narrow, it appears to be the same diameter...

    brushes for oils?

I must agree with Keith and Dave - Winsor Newton Series 7 are THE way to go! :thumb: Mind you, I also use Leow Cornell white nylon and Golden Taklon synthetic brushes for drybrushing, terrain, et cetera because I do 15 & 25mm wargaming miniatures as well. Though I do use the WN 7's for the...

    Soldiers of Italy

The horse's conformation is terrible! Looks like it's suffering from hip dysplasia! :o Neck is too long, legs and back too short, rump too low. Regarding the rump; perhaps if the back legs were not poised for it to jump (with the front standing still), this may fix part of that problem.
