Thankyou Roger (y) I chose to go for a more styleised look to this like you say in keeping with the period of some other artwork of the times ... a little different to the original artwork but think it works for this. A change of pace from my normal style of painting. Carlos

Hi Joe, Sorry A5 is a measurement used for sizing paper and canvas. It equates to around 150 mm x 210mm. I havnt measured the flat at all but it is close to this paper size. Thanks for your feadback (y) Carlos

The scene looks to be set at night, with a strong light source coming from the left of the painting ... maybe a flare or explosion or maybe even a strong moonlight ... Trying to post an image of the painting that Ken took his inspiration from, but it wont let me post it ! Will try another...

Certainly is Einion ! But painting black you can go for cheaper wood if you can find some nice tight grained timber ... which normally means a hardwood of some sort which can get pricey ?! Carlos

Heres an image where I tried to replictae that, the image quality is poor as usuall for me but you can get an idea .... here in 35th scale. I think it would work better in a larger scale tbh. Carlos

Ron I thin enamels with white spirit for brushing and lacquer thinner for airbrushing. Enamels brush paint very well also .. I see on the shield as an example, the following colour layers built up over the scrub cote utilise that for the shadows grinning through the transparent colour layers...

Interesting point, I'm keen to try painting WWII German white sound out in this way, as looking at the real thing and many images these garments diss-colour easily and quickly often leaving white crease's with the tops of folds etc taking on dirt and appearing as if reverse shaded. But we are...

I clocked these also ... Be interesting to see how fine the metallic particles are ... I use printers inks also but these may be ok to mix with or use instead of p/inks if they are fine enough ? Interested to try these ! Carlos

Ron these look nice, I prefer black bases these days ... Where are you based and what is postage like to/within the UK ? Do you turn bases also ? + is the black finish a stain or an acrylic/lacquer spray ? Many thanks Carlos
