This is the first time I've posted to the painting forum and it's not so much to display my painting, but to say how great I think this Carl Reid sculpt is. The expression on the face and the overall feel of the sculpt is really outstanding. Really top notch and so much fun to paint.

I really have to applaud you on this sculpt. At first I just wasn't getting the likeness, but then you just kept on working and refining and it is really turning out well. I've really enjoyed watching your process and I am really looking forward to seeing this finished!

that's a beautiful sculpt. Being of Scottish origin and being brought up around Highland Games, I remember that very look on the faces of the pipers. The face is not in the least cartoony which is always possible when trying to catch an expression like that.
