    "Frozen in time"

Hi Carl, thanks for letting me know that about the badge. I'm certainly no uniform expert, and I somehow interpreted the box art as being red on the upper portion of the badge. I'll make that correction. Thanks for the help!

    "Frozen in time"

This is the first time I've posted to the painting forum and it's not so much to display my painting, but to say how great I think this Carl Reid sculpt is. The expression on the face and the overall feel of the sculpt is really outstanding. Really top notch and so much fun to paint.

Rene, those hands are fantastic! They are so prominent in the sculpt with them out front, and you done a great job on them.

    Major König

Happy to help Rene! From personal experience I can say these dimensions are easy to get off by just a little bit and then they are magnified once you add the hands. This is why I work in Super Sculpey. Like your Fimo I can cut and fix without worrying about time. I admire the guys who work in...

    Major König

Hi Rene, This may or may not be of much help but if you compare the lines drawn along the centerline of the arm you can tell that the lower arm is longer. I don't have a way to accurately measure the actual length, but as a comparative illustration this might help to see what the other...

    Major König

I really have to applaud you on this sculpt. At first I just wasn't getting the likeness, but then you just kept on working and refining and it is really turning out well. I've really enjoyed watching your process and I am really looking forward to seeing this finished!

    Rommel's bust and figure 1/6

The likeness is very very good! I do agree that the shoulders should be widened a bit which will also widen the chest. The pockets could sit a little more on the front of the figure and not so far back under the arms...of course this could all be an optical illusion from camera angles, but it...

    Battle of Crete: German Paratrooper

thats a beautiful head by Andy Bergholtz, and it looks like the finished product does justice to his sculpt.

    WIP please critique, "Fly bunny"

Fly bunny identity info, please add anything you may know I am slowly compiling information on the identity of this chap, and here's hoping someone out there might be able to add to what I've found out. He's probably a member of the 340th Bombardment Sqaudron, from the 97th Bombardment Group of...

    Machine gunner. Pacific ocean. WW2

the sense of movement in the clothing is really excellent. To me it looks like this guy is walking into a headwind and it brings something special to the figure...very nice!

Thank you so much for the compliments gentlemen, they are appreciated and very encouraging! Jon, I've had as much luck as you with trying to find this guys identity. I have had this picture in my Sculpting ideas folder for about 8 months now and I have never been able to find out who he is...

    Preveiw!!! Gordon Highlanders "Pipe Sergeant"

that's a beautiful sculpt. Being of Scottish origin and being brought up around Highland Games, I remember that very look on the faces of the pipers. The face is not in the least cartoony which is always possible when trying to catch an expression like that.

    WIP please critique, "Fly bunny"

Hi Steve, I definitely see what you are referring to with the arm and a little more bulk is in order to fill out the area you are referring to. The folds in the arm are the culprit I think, so I'll work out that area. The throat mic, goggle details, etc will be added once the bake is complete...

    WIP please critique, "Fly bunny"

Hi gentlemen and ladies. I have been working on a 1/10 bust based on a Life magazine photo, and before I make this stage permanent I would like a few more eyes to take a look and see if there are any glaring errors that need to be corrected. There are still lots of details to be added, but I am...

filler material for sculpting thick things? a question

one caution aabout styrofoam and sculpey I'm not sure if you're using sculpey on your project, but one lesson I learned the hard way is that uncured Sculpey will dissolve styrofoam. I was working on a project and left it sitting on a styrofoam sheet for a few days and when I came back the bust...

    1/10 German Pilot completed sculpt

Thank you for the comments gentlemen. I'm very happy that I captured a certain German look, I guess all those reference pictures soaked into my brain. Dan, I struggled with trying to get a picture with enough contrast to show the details in the light tan resin, I'll definitely work on my...

Hi guys, and ladies too. I thought I'd post a pic of my latest completed bust for reviews and critiques. Mastered in Super Sculpey Firm, then molded and cast in resin for painting. As always, any and all critiques are much appreciated since the only way I'm going to continue to improve is...
