WIP please critique, "Fly bunny"

Hi gentlemen and ladies. I have been working on a 1/10 bust based on a Life magazine photo, and before I make this stage permanent I would like a few more eyes to take a look and see if there are any glaring errors that need to be corrected. There are still lots of details to be added, but I am at a baking point and I would like to fix any anatomy issues while the clay is still wet. I've found I tend to get tunnel vision when I'm working on a project so having an objective critique is always a help. Thanks for any thoughts!

I wouldn't consider myself to be great with likenesses, so it's more "loosely based on the photo" as opposed to an exact representation.

It looks very well just to be a project based on the picture, is not as exact as a protrait bust but is very goodas you say just to be based on, congrats .

Yep I agree this is a keeper. A good likeness to the photo, but not so close as to be a potrait. Good job!

Nice job Martin and very interesting subject you have chosen.

For some reason my eye keeps being drwn to the figure left arm section, i just cant put my finger on why though, maybe it looks slightly under scale and it appears the elbow is to near the shoulder, there is a definite bend in the sleeve which gives the impression that there is an elbow there but it could be the angle i am looking at it, you might just want to re check this !!!

Also have you still to add the throat mike yet, maybe you are doing this after baking ??

Hi Steve, I definitely see what you are referring to with the arm and a little more bulk is in order to fill out the area you are referring to. The folds in the arm are the culprit I think, so I'll work out that area. The throat mic, goggle details, etc will be added once the bake is complete. Thanks for all your thoughts guys, they are very much appreciated and only make for a better completed piece.

I had a quick search of Life's webpage...no joy, just B-17 crewman, England '42

I checked out all the photos by Margaret Bourke-White...no joy!

I goggled all the named A/C in the photos...'Peggy D', 'Berlin Sleeper', 'Stinky', 'Honey Chile II'.....no joy

It would have so much more significance if this guy was named.....I'm sure someone's already done the research...

Just gotta find it!

Jon, I've had as much luck as you with trying to find this guys identity. I have had this picture in my Sculpting ideas folder for about 8 months now and I have never been able to find out who he is. I am hoping that someone may see the sculpt and be able to shed some light on him, and if that happens I will be sure to let you know. I thought there were a lot of interesting aspects to the picture when I was first saw it, and I am happy that you agree, and that I've managed to capture a bit of the photo in the sculpt.

Fly bunny identity info, please add anything you may know

I am slowly compiling information on the identity of this chap, and here's hoping someone out there might be able to add to what I've found out. He's probably a member of the 340th Bombardment Sqaudron, from the 97th Bombardment Group of the 8th Bomber Command (later 8th Air Force) which was stationed at Polebrook, Northamptonshire, England, from June until November of 1942. If this jogs any further info it would be very much appreciated!
