    New Andrea Miniatures

Hi Janne, very interesting link, there is also the Hedeby-Haitabu hood : http://nvg.org.au/article.php?story=20080429214830673&query=cloak In other sites consider the Orkney hood dating in the viking age ..but this is not a problem.. considering the numbers of hoods find more less in the same...

    New Andrea Miniatures

Hi Janne, yes, may be sagas sometimes could be not historical correct , but it is more for some wrong dates or events never happened , as for the Njall saga the 5° court instead of 4 courts..also we have not to make confusion between drawings and paintings that of course describe contemporary...

i think this figure has to be very amusing to paint..and you are going great for sure..i like the colours choice and the metal effects are very well done as is the painting of the horse, how do you think to paint the cape, in white ? For the terrain i would go for the autumn pattern.. cheers stefano

    New Andrea Miniatures

Hi Janne , the sagas very often describe men wearing hoods, there was also a king , Harald greyhood.... this is a hood found in Greenland even if is more less 2oo years later of the viking period, it is thought to be more less the same style the vikings used, we have also examples in some of...

    New Andrea Miniatures

completely agree with you Janne , if we have to depict a poor viking , especially in the early viking period his main weapon would be an axe or a spear with a scramasax as second weapon and not a sword , a fine sword ( the finest were produced in Frankish Germany, for example the Ulfeberth...
