    Jack Jones " Butcher"

Excellent work Kev. In my opinion this is the best piece of work you have done. The eyes are superb. The mouth captures that "stiff upper lip" look that L/Cpl Jones so often had. The medals (as always) are spot on. It's a lovely piece of work mate. Well done. John

    Medieval Knight

Very well painted and clean. I especially like the yellow tones.

    Billy the kid

Thanks for the nice comments Graham, and yes, I hadn't thought about the Lounge forum. If people are interested I would like to do that. There's no figures though. They would have to be the size of an Action Man! John

    Billy the kid

Thanks for the kind remarks guys. Viking Bob, I've seen the photo you posted. Its a more recently released and now authenticated tintype of Billy. The photo my figure is based on is this older and also authenticated tintype.. From the left shows the original photo which is reverse...

    Billy the kid

As promised here is my latest completed 54mm figure. He was known by many names in the wild west, Henry McCarty, Wiĺliam Bonney, Kid Antrim, Brushy Bill, and most famously Billy the kid. Billy was rumoured as having killed 21 men by his 21st birthday. He was allegedly shot and...

    Jean-Baptiste Isidore Martin

Mrs Jazz is most impressed. She says it's nice to see some mixed scale work for a change. Part 90mm scale and part 120mm!

    Templar sergeant

Good work Robert. I've painted this one myself and its one of the hardest busts I've ever done. Nice leatherwork. Only criticism is I would tone the creases in the face down a bit. They look too dark on the photos. John

    Completed The undertaker

Taking everyones advice on board I decided to remove one of the coffin lids and darkened the remaining one which I trimmed down a bit. Then I made two more conventional shaped coffin lids which I lacquered in gloss varnish and put in place next to the other. I made a nameplate for each from...

    Completed The undertaker

Thanks Steve. Thanks Frank. I'm getting a few comments about these coffin lids, not least from Mrs Jazz who also agrees with you. Ok, I think I will have to look at this. The undertaker isnt the best coffin maker in the world and I blame him really. John

    Completed The undertaker

Thanks Marc. I appreciate your comments. The coffin lids were originally natural balsa colour but as my wife pointed out, were too stark so I used a beige colour to tone them down a bit. I wanted them to look like untreated wood but maybe they do need a bit more darkening down a bit. John

    Completed The undertaker

Hi everybody I'd like to show you all the process I took making my wild west undertaker figure. I've had this for many years and until recently incorporated it in a western diarama. It has become the norm for me lately to repaint some of my old figures, trying to improve them from the last...

    afghanistan girl bust

This is a good attempt David. Unfortunately the photos don't do the piece justice. I use a camera from my phone like we all do these days and the results don't do the models any favours. From the image I see I would try to "round" the iris of the eyes just a little more. Her left eye seems to be...

    PM Chasseur 1984 Bob Scollick

A very nice piece of work standing outstandingly proudly alongside today's work, would not be out of place at all. Good skills stand the test of time and this has it in spades. I well remember Max Longhurst and other pioneers giving us the tips that started our interest in this great hobby. I...

    Barbarian raid

Thanks Alan. Incidentally the hook was originally attached to the arm of an old Beneito pirate. The 90mm version in the inn pestering the barmaid. What a great piece of metal that was. John
