You are correct, Pew; the M1 issued in WW2 was used also in RVN. Changes to the chin strap arrangement is about the only exterior difference.

    Pegaso Models March News

I am not a fan of the wings. The feathers have obviously been sculpted as a mass. This ignores what wind and movement do to feathers. Instead of a solid slab, a few multi-feathered sections would have worked and allowed the artist to customize the wings. I am sure this will cost slightly less...

    Looking for a Pigeon....

Check Mantis Miniatures. They have a wide variety of animals and birds in either 1/35 or 54mm, ain't sure which.

    What paint you use?

I also have all brands of oils in the box but rarely use them in favor of acrylic. The tube acrylics I have are Turners from Japan (go figure THAT) and Jo Sonja..

I have the scars to validate Tarracus's statement. I also have probably thirty kits going at any given time. Uhhhh...I think there is a pattern here.

    Box art

I have been giving this some thought and arrived at the conclusion that the primed figure offers the most honest view of the casting. No intimidation factor and nothing else but a good look.

    Begginer

Good start. You got the colors right and "stayed in the lines", not slopping color outside where it was supposed to go. Now begins the process of refining what you have accomplished. A very good tool to do that is to study other painted figures that you like and compare them to what you have...

    Box art

If I see poorly done box art the figure will be a hard sell. In my experience neglected box art often is reflected in the casting or the quality of the sculpt. Nothing is etched in stone but with the competition for my hobby dinero

How can I achieve a smooth finish (no brush marks) with Jo Sonja paint

My preferred scale is 54mm. I do the odd 75 or 120 but usually 54. I mix Vallejo, JS, and Reaper interchangeably with no problem (that I am aware of; I am unaware of a lot of stuff). I have dabbled with Grumbacher glazing medium but usually it is just tap water to thin. I try not to allow brush...

    WIP Young's Highlander Culloden.

Congrats on your appointment as moderator, Carl. I think. Answering to a pack of opinionated and often inebriated figure painters may be a bit of a task. Like what Hercules faced at the Augean stables. Wonderful do on the Highlander.

How can I achieve a smooth finish (no brush marks) with Jo Sonja paint

I have no problem with JS. They come out of the tube very thick, and require thinning. I have used them for 20+ years and never seen nor heard of this problem, so the fix should be simple. If I can do it, a half trained chimp can do it.
