True, that would be another way round it.......thanks Carl; and yes, it's oils.

    Completed Critique Monk

Thanks Carl Unfortunately the paint has already dried too much to be blended more, to change anything will need a repaint or at least some thinners on the brush that could then damage the surface. I may try next weekend, as I won't get any time in daylight before then !

Looking for critique here. Did I acheive the effect that I wanted, or do I strip the paint and start again..........

    Completed Critique Monk

Bunker Miniatures Monk. I've deliberately aimed to portray a man that has not been outside for a long time, and has partaken of too much rich food and wine - the stereotypical medieval monk! (the pinks do not look as vivid in real life - they are exagerated by the camera!)

    New Reedees Miniatures`Retreat to Corunna`

Very nice, and a favourite subject of mine - Riflemen! The only thing I'd add would be a cloth wrapped around the lock to keep the flint/priming pan/breech free of moisture........

    New release from maurice corry

Sorry mate, I obviously didn't quite get the point first time around - too early in the morning! I do see your point though - if you look at the 200mm US para with .30 where he's carrying the weight of the gun..........

    New release from maurice corry

Jason - if you've ever tried wearing/carrying a lot of gear, the body adopts some strange looking positions to keep the weight over the centre of gravity. I think Moz has got this right.. especially as it looks as if the trooper is reaching for something from his belt. Won't be buying this one...

    HistoricArt y Nocturna

Both great looking figures - but then I'm a fan of Nocturna's work.

WIP Bengal Lancer 1901 (AIRFIX 54mm)

I've made the 1/12 scale version, and it looks striking in that yellow! For painting the yellow I used Humbrol 'Lufthansa' yellow as the base mixed with 'deep yellow' oil paint as illustrations show that it's a golden yellow rather a pale colour. Highlighted with yellow/white mix and shadowed...

Open Book Templar Knight In Jerusalem - Young Miniature Review

From a book on the Templars that I've just finished reading; the 'habit' was white with a red cross (The surcoat worn under the cape and directly over the mail hauberk) The cape or cloak could have been white or possibly have been black/dark brown signifying the monastic origins of the order. Of...

Open Book Templar Knight In Jerusalem - Young Miniature Review

Thanks Guy. Having seen it 'in the flesh' I want one even more!

    Tartar Miniatures - February 2011

I like the Crusader's face, a real battered old warriors mush that one; together with the tonsure a real Templar (they were religious knights after all!).

    British Sniper in Afghanistan

Maurice Corry 120mm figure. I hope I've done it justice - the camera lens is our harshest critic at twice life size! From a couple of feet away it looks fine............. Flesh painted in oils, everything else in Vallejo acrylics. I'm sticking to busts in future as there is fine detail on this...
