I think Marc is spot on. I use Raw Umber and Cad red to mix for blood. More Umber for the older and darker stains that I want, more reds for the newer and fresher blood. Just a tiny bit of practice should get you there. I tend to ere on the side of "sparing" when applying blood, less is more for...
