News October 2024: Chronos Miniatures CHM-54351

This is an excellent new release. So much to paint on there. (y)

New 75mm Confederate Navy Officer 1862 TFB Miniatures

An excellent release. I have always said that naval subjects have for too long been completely neglected. After all, navies have been around for as long as armies have. Really good to see.

    Painting Straight and uniform lines

The problem with masking tape is that you're having to adhere it to surfaces that do not lend themselves to being taped up. Straight lines on figures do not have to be straight - they do have to look straight. Not necessarily the same thing. Practice is the key. That, and a change of mindset...

Jefe de Batallón Infanteria en Phillipinas, Regto Principe No 1893

This is the better one of the two. Let me know what you think.... It really is good, Simon. You might have found your niche here. I can just tell by looking that you really enjoyed doing him. Thanks for sharing with us. (y)

Every aspect, so brilliant in every way. It might be my favourite figure of 2024. In fact, it probably is. But where is the dog..?

    Too Much ......?????

Nap, I hope you're okay. It looks good to me, what do I know? Anyway, he looks every inch the archetypal Victorian soldier to me. Maybe you're over-thinking it? It's great you've had so many answers - it's modelling all about.

    Benito Mussolini

In fact, I've just changed my mind. I am triggered because you made a joke of Steve lack of a trigger warning. I'm so triggered in fact, I'm never going to paint another figure again. Ever. And neither should you. I'm so traumatised, I'm going to have to lie down in a dark room and listen to a...

The hard lesson - By William-Adolphe Bouguereau

    Excellent in every way.

    Benito Mussolini

This is an old, but nonetheless very interesting discussion. I'd say the chief reason is economics. I was talking to a manufacturer at a show and this topic came up. He said that depictions of Nazi hierarchy simply do not sell well at all. Contrast that with sales of SS figures, of which there's...

    Alferez de fragata 1805

Great to see a naval figure. A much-ignored aspect of the hobby. A really well done figure as well.

    Spotted this...........

I'm sure I read it was a German engineering professor who designed Flecktarn.
