    Sneak Preview: my latest sculpt

Nice one, Mike! I think it might have been more fun to have made his left hand tweaking his moustache rather than holding the cig. I'd like to paint one for sure. The anatomy is brilliant as are the folds. Nothing lacking on this one. You da man! Matt

    Pegaso Euromilitaire Limited Edition

Seems like the intent of this limited release is to make attending Euro more attractive to modelers. I think that it will clearly do that. Without inside information, perhaps it's a bit quick to knock Pegaso for making this a limited edition piece. Perhaps they were asked to do this by the Euro...

I have no idea what this will be....

Nice, Cheesy. Maybe check your symmetry on the jawline. The left (his right) looks more pronounced than the other. Of course, this could be the angle of the pic. Matt

    Metal modeles August news

The Spahis looks like a Michel Saez sculpt.

    Gone Fishin'????

Hello! I know I haven't been keeping up with my blog as often as I'd like. Part of that is work, getting prepaired for the last APG Show in Gettysburg and perhaps the most pressing reason, the death of my camera. Until I can scrape together the pennies for a new one, looks like text only for the...

    Fredericus-Rex: Name plates

Great idea! I wish someone in the US would do this. I always seem to have a heck of a time keeping up with someone to do plates.

Pushing through to the finish line

John, Glad to hear that you've got some of your interest back in the hobby. I look forward to seeing the new work that comes from you in the days ahead. Matt

    More Progress...Clint

More work done on getting the basics down on this portrait. Slow going, but I'm enjoying the freedom and fiddling that the super sculpey is allowing me for endless tweaking. Getting closer now...A likeness isn't so much about the features as it is how the features meet with and interact with...

    Woodland Nymph - Completed

Thanks! Glad you like it. It's a really nice kit and the sculpting is outstanding and the casting is pretty darn perfect. Matt S

    Woodland Nymph - Completed

Here are a few pics of a bust I recently painted and displayed at the MFCA show in Valley Forge, PA this past weekend. It was a great show and I enjoyed seeing alot of old friends and meeting some new ones, too. Lynnette was a trooper and made the trip with me. Thanks to Joel Glass and the whole...

    AVATAR Neytiri bust

Lovely work, Trevor. I enjoyed seeing this one at MFCA last weekend. It's even more impressive in reality than it is in these pics, as hard as that is to believe. It was definately on my short list for B.O.S. I asked John R about this piece and he said it was done in chevant. Is that correct...

    Butterfly Princess 80mm

Ray, Nice subject. Looks like it will be fun to paint. I agree with Jason. Leave the bust as is. Any larger and it'll change the look of the piece from artistic to cheesecake (IMHO). Wait...did I really just vote for smaller boobs???? Looking forward to seeing your painting on this...

    1918 Fusilier (MetalModele Bust)

Great painting on a classic bust. I love all of these old Metal Models gems from Saez in this line. Thanks for sharing.. Matt

WIP Critique Prinzess Viktoria Luise of Prussia 1911

Ken, I like the subject you've chosen. I hope you don't mind me chiming in, but I noticed some asymmetry in the face. You may want to add a little more volume to the left jaw line to make it match the right. I guess it's most obvious in picture from the front. Check the sculpt in the mirror...

    GI Normandy 1/10 bust (2)

Nice work! The folds on the jacket are brilliant. I also like the detail work on the uniform. Have a look at the jawline at his left ear. It looks like it may extend behind the ear. Thanks for sharing the pics!

New Portrait Piece. Roughing In the Volumes

Thanks, guys. Yes Gary, it is SS Firm. I've mixed a bit of regular SS into it to make it a bit more workable. I'm enjoying the flexibility of the long working time, but don't like trying to do detail work like the nostrils, lips, eyes, etc. The putty doesn't stick to itself as well as MS so it's...

    Completed G'onther Prien 1939 (90mm)

Nice painting, Alexandros. I had the same issue with this figure not sitting flat on the seat. I had to bend the rails a bit to narrow the gap between his bum and the seat. Once I had it as close as possible, I filled the gap with putty and touched up. Kind of a pain, but still a fun figure to...
