WIP Critique Australian SAS Vietnam, 1/6th scale bust, Naked Army

Hi guys, I've rebooted this 3 years old thread because my good mate Alan Mackie has inspired me to finish this bust. As you will see on his thread, Alan has done a superb conversion of this bust and painted him in tiger stripe camouflage. I'm simply awestruck but his conversion. Al's...

    Australian SAS tpr Vietnam

Absolutely top shelf Alan. Both busts are superb and are genuinely authentic and accurate. The tiger stripe camo on your latest bust is simply the best I've seen. Well done mate.;)

Excellent progress Al. You've clearly got the juices flowing mate. First steps on the Tiger Stripe cams look very good. Seeing your efforts on this bust have caused me to pull my standard version out of the cabinet and finish it (finally).

WIP Critique 82nd Airborne, 120mm Alpine Miniatures

Hi Taesung, its a beautiful figure mate. I hope I can do it justice. The head is just blu taked on at present as I intend to keep working on the face. Hi Adrian, I agree mate. I spent the last three nights painting the uniform to try and get the colours spot on. I'm now working on the...

    Current WIP project

Hi John That's a fantastic debut on this forum mate. Well done. The light effect you're describing is known as OSL - Object Source Lighting, and its a paint effect that more and more miniature artists are trying. It's probably best used when artificial lighting is being represented, but a...

WIP Critique 82nd Airborne, 120mm Alpine Miniatures

Hi guys, Please see below the first pics of my latest project. As a former paratrooper myself, I'm drawn to this subject and I absolutely love this pose. No doubt that the Alpine range of figures are among the very best in terms of sculpting, casting, accuracy, fit and presentation. As...

WIP Private Perry - Chillianwallah - Part 2

Brian, As I've said elsewhere, this bustarama echoes back to Bill Horan's most amazing diorama and carries its spirit. I can't wait to see how you weather the uniform to reflect the jungle swamp conditions. In your own way, I think you are redefining the art of painting busts and making the...

That's a beauty Mike. I assuming its 54mm? The dog's face and that of his owner show a strong family resemblance :D

    Hello to all

Hi John, Planet Figure is home to a lot of ex-military people from all around the world. Some are still serving, some have only recently taken off their uniform and others, like me, have been out on civvy street for a long time, but we all share a love of figure modelling. Welcome aboard...

    Completed B-17 crewman, 1944

Beautifully painted Matt. s others have said the leather jacket is a stand out, and you've managed to achieve some very realistic effects to make the leather look worn. The only constructive criticism I would make is that I think the lambs wool lining of the jacket could do with a wash of...

    I've noticed something.

Better to make great figures that look like shit when photographed, than the reverse. I've seen a number of modellers works that look awesome when you see them on the interweb or in glossy magazines and clearly had some touch ups from Mr Photoshop, but look very un-impressive to the naked eye.

Completed Critique Dutch Red Lancer, by Carl Reid

Lovely work Ben, love the sense of motion the piece has and the weight distribution of the rider as he rides the turn. Beautiful sculpting and painting.

WIP Critique Napoleon bust, Young Miniatures

Thanks Chris, glad you like him. I managed to push through my mojo issues and I'm pleased to say I've reached the point where I'm calling this bust "fini". Here he is.
