WIP Critique Napoleon bust, Young Miniatures

Hi guys, I started this new bust of Napoleon Bonaparte from Young Miniatures last week. The bust comes with a choice of two heads, but in my opinion, this is the only head worth painting. Next step is to paint the medals before adding the cloak and the arms and making it impossible to...

WIP Critique German Stormtrooper, Young Miniatures bust

Hi Jeff, thanks for you comments buddy. The only thing I can say is to practice, practice, practice. Face painting is a skill like any other, and the more you do it, the better you get.

    Aeris Gainsborough project

Wow, I have so much admiration and respect for sculptors. It's such a painstaking process you have to go through to realise your vision. I think us painters have it easy.

    WIP YM German Stormtrooper WWI

Well done James. I'll leave the issue of the helmet and simply say that the face is wonderful and replacing the pipe with a cigarette is a good option. I've just finished this bust myself, so I'm keen to see how you do it.

WIP Sansa Stark. Nuts Planet Bust

Hi Andrew, I've had a good look at this bust, and I think I might be able to make a few constructive and positive comments to help you. Firstly, I think Sansa's hair could do with more contrast. I'd add an extra layer of upper highlights and deepest shadows. I'd recommend you go very...

WIP Critique Roman Senator, FeR Miniatures, 1/12th scale bust

Hi Chris, thanks mate. Painting white is relatively easy compared to some colours. The secret is to not use white paint. I use 50 shades of grey.;) Hi Tony, thankyou. Your comment is greatly appreciated.:D Hi Nicolae, thanks for your generous comments. I'm so glad you liked it.:) Hi...

    band master 3rd hussars

Well done Tony. Great job on a very complex and detailed bust. Personally I'd like to see a bit more contrast in the skintones, but I suspect the flash from your camera has made it look a bit washed out. Either way, good job mate.

WIP Critique Roman Senator, FeR Miniatures, 1/12th scale bust

Hi Jason, thanks for your comments. The blocking in of the shadows and highlights is an ugly but necessary steps towards achieving the right degree of contrast. Especially in a very light colour. Hopefully the update pic below will show that the process was worth the effort. Hi Tony, thanks...

WIP Critique Roman Senator, FeR Miniatures, 1/12th scale bust

Hi guys, As you can see, I've already made a fair bit of progress on my next project. This is a wonderful little bust that I just had to have. He never made it into the Grey Army - straight from arriving in the mail to on the workbench.:D The toga remains a work in progress. I laid in the...
