This is the second bust I've done. I usually paint 54's a freind asked me to paint this bust for him, so what the heck. Its painted, mostly, in acrylics. I first painted the face in acrylics but it was too flat and made him look...sick. I painted it over with oils. RWD

That's the first thing I noticed about them, too. How original! With all the talent that Andrea has and the thousands of original ideas out there, it's a shame that they have to waste their resources on "been there, done that" pieces. And they look like such well done pieces, too. RWD

I'm painting a bust of Otto Skorzeny (Verlonden). He's wearing the tropical Luftwaffe uniform he wore at Gran Sasso. My question is, what color would the Waffenfarbe (branch of service color) be on his epaulettes? Everything I have on him is in B&W. RWD

I bought one of the Russian castings (unpainted) and as it didn't have a color guide, or even a box for that matter, I'm having a hard time ID'ing the unit. The only figure I remember like that was an old Kirin figure, but it was 120mm scale. It's an old one and long out of produduction (Ifirst saw it at the first World Expo in Washington D.C.). Thre may be another manufacturer somewhere. Maybe Chuck at The Red Lancers might know. Good...

You could use Dark Prussian Blue and Flat Black but when I used it ,it came out kind of shiny. Try Vallejo Dark Prussian Blue and Flat Black with Andrea's Prussian Blue. The Andrea blue tones down the glossiness. Also don't be to heavy on the highlights, that dark wool doesn't reflect to much...

Hey, Larry I used a very dark red color for blood (acrylic). I made it very thin and just "touched" heae and there on the uniform. Because it's thinned the color of the uniform shows through as if the blood had soaked into the cloth. On a sword blade I also used very little blood but painted it...

I use both Vallejo and Andrea. The Andrea paint dries very flat, and covers well and has a nice smooth finish but it is harder to work with (shading-wise). Sometimes the Andrea paints leave a hard edge when you apply a shade/hihlight coat, sort of like a watermark. The Vellejo paints on the...
