'Blighty', Western Front, The Great War, 1914-1918

Really like this for the content and layout. The wounded British Soldier looks very happy -- he is thinking -- "I'm out of here!" A nice clean bed awaits then hospital train and ship back to the U.K. Would probably buy if it ever became a kit.

    Corporal 93rd Highlanders 1854 Mil-Mart semi flat

Hello Graham --- for a first attempt at tartan you have a good hand. Somewhat envious of your line work. Sadly however the option of changing the heading to that of the 92nd The Gordon Highlanders will not work. The Gordon's have a different sporran --- 2 black tassels on a white sporran...

    unnoticed departure Bryan Fosten RIP

Very sad to learn about the above. I can well remember Bryan's work in Military Modelling, copies of which are still in a walk in cupboard in the house, that my wife would like cleared out. However, as with Merryweather still a source of tips and ideas. Plus off course nostalgia, just ask...

AIMS 1/35 Black Watch 2nd Lt

Hello John, Really like this figure, especially the detail on the service dress jacket. However, I am suggesting that the glengarry top line is wrong. The glengarry tends to curve down at the ends, particularly when seen from the sides. The profile above looks more in keeping with the "tent"...

Thanks Henkm, take care in these strange times.

    King George V

El Taller produces great mounted figures. Perhaps in a similar manner to Henkm cutting either the foil provided or using the foil from wine bottles, (though less likely to get foil these days) can be difficult to get the reins fine enough. However, I once bought pre cut reins, cannot remember...

    Highland cap dicing help needed...

I write with some hesitation as I do not know the bust-what regiment it represents and the scale, plus what period we are in? You may however have a degree of luck. Quite often the feathering of the bonnet covered the dicing to on a below the centre band. The centre band being exposed, in some...

Hello All, Just to let you know that the figures I ordered from Germany --> Berliner Zinfiguren, arrived safely late this morning. I ordered and paid for them on Wed. 30. Dec. 2020. I knew one of the figures was out of stock and needed to be ordered from the manufacturer. This figure, from...

Buy figures from Europe for U.K. residents. Tax?

Many thanks for the above info. I monitored the situation re the massive blockage at Dover re covid and the non movement of goods. I was keen to get some figures ordered from Berliner Zinnfiguren, so that I had some stuff to hand during the lockdown, one could see coming. DHL's website was...

Buy figures from Europe for U.K. residents. Tax?

Hello the World Can someone post clear information whether UK residents will be charged tax and handling fees for importing figures from Europe now that we have left the E.U.? Is there a value under which figures will be exempt and if charges levied can we get the item tax free from the seller...

Il Volto del Comando 54mm Conte Gaetano Battaglia, Colonnello Comandante Guardie d'onore 1812

Great looking figures. Have looked at the info above but a couple of questions------ What figures are available and where do you buy them? English and German understood. Thanks.

    Old guard

Hallo Aleksander, I definitely agree, this is certainly an old guard. This grizzled veteran will have many a story to think on or tell as he smokes his beloved pie. So much for the idea of a boy drummers, definitely not in the imperial guard. I do not collect/paint busts, however well impressed...

120mm Farrier Lance Corporal, Blues & Royals

Sure but as exceeded my quota this year will not be tempted. Regarding the Life Guards option one could go for either 1st or 2nd Life Guards, prior to the "amalgamation" by opting for either a black or white sheepskin and a red or blue flash cord.

120mm Farrier Lance Corporal, Blues & Royals

Great looking kit. I am a bit of a fan of sapeurs and farriers. Sadly scale way outside the range I paint. A significant point about the figure displayed Life Guards farriers have a black plume, unlike the other soldiers in the regiment.

    Chasseurs a pied, nit picking

Hello Kurt, The information I have to hand would indicate 2 white tassels for rank and file. For NCO's 2 coloured tassels -- red and green for both with gold (Rousselot) , or one green and gold and the other red and gold ( Jouninea and Monigin) with more gold for sergeant-major than sergeants...

    Figure Painter Required.

Hello, I am keen to find someone to paint up 4 Rose Miniatures 54mm, they are of Cameronians circa 1900, 1 officer and 3 riflemen. Sadly my skills for painting tartan trousers/trews are no longer up to the mark. So if able and willing please get in touch. I am aware that this is not a job one...
