    Suebian warrior 1st century CE

Great looking figure. The hairstyle is a defining historical characteristic of the Suebians. A few well preserved bog bodies have been found with the hair knot. Derek

Louis I de Nevers, Count of Flanders (1304 -1346 AD)

A top paintjob on a figure that stands the test of time. Heraldry is particularly well done (y) Cheers Derek

    SOON ALVORADA MINIATURES

Very nice. A lot of single 'action' figures just don't look convincing, most need an opponent to be convincing. This works extremely well as a stand alone piece. Cheers Derek

Members' galleries / albums on pF

Mark, it is said that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery ......" what you rarely hear is the second part of Wilde's quote.;) Saying that, having failed to come up with a concept for four of Pegasos celts I'm unashamedly copying more or less another modellers diorama. When finally shown...

It's Seilebost beach on Harris. Basically by the time you're up in this part of Scotland almost all the beaches look like this. Always good to go off piste every now and then and this looks like a nice wee project. Cheers Derek

White Rose Guild of Miniature Painters Xmas Bash

Have a great time. It's just so effing awkward to get to from Glasgow, particularly at that time of year. Trophy looks great and will be a real stand out on the winners mantlepiece (y)

    Completed Hospitaller 13c

The cloak was always a poor fit on this model. The trick was to get the balance of filling and filing as near to right as you can. I'd say you've done a very decent job of that. Heraldry is always a bit of a trade off some genuine historical examples are spectacularly detailed and accurate...

New 75mm Confederate Navy Officer 1862 TFB Miniatures

Looks great but to my eye there's a bit of an imbalance. Losing the third set of rigging to the left better centres the figure. As it stands for me the rigging dominates the scene. Belter though. Cheers Derek

    El Saludo

Brilliant. The different expressions on each figures face brings the whole story together (y) As always setting the standard for composition . D.

    Prussian Uhlan

Looks great, complimentary tones throughout really work. Beautifully displayed with just the right amount of groundwork to set the figure off (y) Derek

    Hans Philipp

Outstanding. Many excellent paintworks are let down when animals are included particularly dogs. In this case the result is exceptional . Cheers Derek

    Completed Hospitaller 13c

Will be following closely, particularly as you're using acrylics, still a real challenge to me. Been recently having a clear out myself and came across a nameplate for Raymond du Puy that I did years ago for a SBS that I'd put on a plinth with some groundwork. Couldn't for the life of me...

    Waterslide heraldry decals??

Seem to remember that Tommie used to do a sheet of low stick laser cut stencils for shields. There was a sheet with different types of crosses including 'Kingdom of Jerusalem' in various scales. Haven't seen them in years but might be worth dropping him a pm. D.

Coming soon 75mm Highland clansman 1745 TFB Miniatures

I need to watch more telly :D Now it's been clarified I assume that the production company costume department referenced their inner Nancy Sinatra ;) That being said its a belter of a figure and all the better for giving the painter a complete scene. D

Coming soon 75mm Highland clansman 1745 TFB Miniatures

I like everything about this except the boots. They look to me like folded down riding boots which would have been worn with trews rather than a kilt. I suppose they could have been stripped from an enemy but the figure looks as if he could have afforded a pretty decent pair of ghillie brogues...
