    Australian Bren Gunner/Pacific WW2

Hi John This must be one of the best WW II figures I've ever seen. Excellent painting and ground work. The face is a piece of art on its own. And the way you've weathered the figure and tied it to the ground work is truly remarkable. Johan

    The Last Supper

Hi Dave, What a nice little scene you have created here. The black and white photo shows to good effect the work and thinking you have put in this project. First class work mate and I look forward to see this next month entered in our competition. Johan

    8th Texas Cavalry CSA 1864

Hi Jean-Paul, What an ingenious and daring use of the dead horse. Not many would dare to cut it up to fit the base. But here it looks really fantastic. Beatiful painting too. Especially the warm, worn grey of the jacket and the simulated direction of the hairgrowth on the horse are true...

Praetorian - Building up the groundwork

Hi Guy, Thanks for the comments. Hope to show my next step very soon ... Hi Patrick, Thanks mate, but let me remind you of and old saying in Dutch: "het vel van den beer nooit verkopen voor dattem geschoten is!" (never sell the hide of a bear before you actually shot/killed the beast)...

Praetorian - Building up the groundwork

Hi all, Some more progress: the static and tall gras were added. I also airbrushed the groundwork in its base colour (Humbrol olive drab M66). Now I can start with the weathering of the groundwork ... (clickable thumbnails) Thanks for looking. Johan

Praetorian - Building up the groundwork

Hi all, My next step in the Praetorian project: building up the base. The basic groundwork has been accomplished. When everything will be dry, static grass and other vegetation will be added. Then the complete base will be airbrushed. (clickable thumbnail) As usual more pics can be...

    Roman Cavalryman - Seil Miniatures

Hi Guy, Thanks for the review. As you have had this figure in your hands I am sure you will be able to help me out on the following question: from the first moment I saw the figure to me it looked as if the breastplate (lorica musculata) of the rider has a certain degree of torsion. Maybe...

    Praetorian - More progress

Hi all, Here are a few pics of my WIP on the Praetorian's horse. The coat, mane and tales are finished. Only the head needs additional work. Next will be the strapping. A few more photos and a bit of narrative texte can be seen/read on my web log by clicking here >>>...

    Figure Magnification

Hi all, I can only say that my digital camera was one of the best purchases to ameliorate my painting. As Mike has stated I think we all strive to reproduce real subjects in miniature, and all this as realistic as possible. Digital cameras and magnifyers too are both just instruments used...

    U boat commander WW1

Hi Stephen, I can't recall to have ever seen a figure on which the blue has been rendered as convincingly as you have achieved here. It's good to see you have restrained yourself with the highlights, something which is easily overdone with dark blue. Really lovely work! Johan
