'Merde!' Last Stand of the Old Guard Waterloo - Carl Reid

Thanks guys, glad you like it! For me the "The Last Stand" of the Old Guard is one of, if the most iconic scenes of Waterloo. As mentioned previously, there are still a few more scenes that can be done. The KGL in the sand pit is definitely one. We have a never ending supply of putty and...

'Stand Fast the 42nd' - Carl Reid

I've just dug out the info. His name was Cololnel Sir Robert Macara. He was wounded and was being carried from the field, when he and his stretcher bearers was taken prisoner, pillaged and killed on the spot. The 42nd witnessed the act and considered it an act of murder. Not war, and took it...

'Stand Fast the 42nd' - Carl Reid

Cheers Mike! Thats right, I think it was Colonel McCaragh (If thats how it's spelt). He was initially wounded and was being carried from the field. He was attacked again and the Scots considered it murder, and took it personally. Carl

Regards to Dance of Death casting delays

This really is my final post on the subject!!! Contrary to what people may have been told. I wasn't paid in full up front for this project. I was paid in 3 installments. The 1st on November 6th 2017, the 2nd on December 19th 2017 and the final payment was made on the 6th January 2018!!! Carl

Regards to Dance of Death casting delays

Hi Mick, Based on my workload it was always unlikely I would have been able to complete the project for Euro. Given the above mentioned conversation with Ian took place at S&L in mid April 2017. Even if I started the project that week, it would not have been completed until the end of...

Regards to Dance of Death casting delays

Hi Everyone, As the sculptor of this piece I feel it necessary to clarify that I am in no way responsible for any of the delays. I in fact I informed Ellie Miniatures mid April 2017 at Sword & Lance that I wouldn't be able to start the "Dance of Death" project until later in the year. Due to...

120mm Mounted Samurai - Mitches Military Models

Yes it is Yoshitsune Minamoto. There is a famous incident documented, where he lead his men, included mounted Samurai down a steep cliff face into a fort. Here is a link to Yoshitsune Minamoto's story. It briefly mentions the incident. https://www.samurai-archives.com/yoshitsune.html

Completed Critique Dutch Red Lancer, by Carl Reid

Cracking job Ben! This is the first I've seen painted. Fantastic! For those who are wondering about the support on one leg... I sculpted/engineered the horse so a brass rod can be cast into the leg. The rod passes all the way down the leg from inside the chest, and passes out through the...

    No more Euro

Firstly I'm not here to piss on anyones parade! But whatever happened to the Leeds show 20 years ago is neither here nor there. What I would say, regardless of skullduggery, if the foot fall was sufficient the traders would have traded, and turned up. Its as simple as that. Traders are an...

    No more Euro

Hi Guys, I think the UK needs a premier show, Euro Militaire was that show. To resurrect a fashionable version of Euro Militaire will require some deep and progressive thinking. Speaking as a Brummie I would it at the NEC, it has an airport which accomodares flight from every corner of the...
