I think that the whole bumbling, clownish buffoon image is deliberate and people just fall for it. Irrespective of your views on Boris, he's a smart operator. You don't get to be foreign secretary, the elected (twice) mayor of London and now potentially PM (down to the last 2 candidates) by being stupid. Same with most politicians, probably 99% of them are well-educated, articulate, opinionated and display varying degrees of egotism and/or ruthlessness. There's a difference between being daft, and coming up with daft ideas!

Guys, this isn't, nor wasn't, intended to be neither a political thread (forbidden by the Forum rules as we all know), nor a thread about the person (being a politician doesn't nullify the fact that he is also a human being, like all of us) .
The only reason I posted the link to this article here is because I found out, reading the article (clearly stated on the title btw) something that I didn't know, which is, that he apparently enjoys modeling on his spare time, that's all. And modeling & painting is our common hobby, right?

Cheers!

'Jeez, there’s a dead cat on the table!’

Beyond its undoubted weirdness and disputed veracity, many critics have cited comments that Mr Johnson made in his Telegraph column in 2013 about the “dead cat” manoeuvre.
He wrote that if losing an argument, when facts are against you, in order to distract focus from the issue at hand one possible strategy is “throwing a dead cat on the table”.
“That is because there is one thing that is absolutely certain about throwing a dead cat on the dining room table,” Mr Johnson said.
“Everyone will shout “Jeez, mate, there’s a dead cat on the table!”; in other words they will be talking about the dead cat, the thing you want them to talk about, and they will not be talking about the issue that has been causing you so much grief.”

"It's all in fun Dolf don't worry"

Ok Steve :) I was starting to worry that this might degenerate into a different direction than its purpose, which is/was "he apparently likes modeling" ;)

Cheers!

He doesn't actually make models of buses.
He takes the wooden slatted boxes that hold fruit and veg that have two wooden boards and end posts and paints them to appear like buses.
If that's model making then I am Van Gogh.

Were did you get this picture Roger? Do you know anything more about those Prussian models? I see two cuirassiers and a grenadier of infantry regiment nr 6 "Die Langen Kerls".

Are they porcelain? Meissen?

Reichsheini seems to be rather smitten with them:D

Cheers Paul
