Looking great.
I've just finished making it too, and intend to enter into the BMSS Annuals at the end of the month.
One point to look out for Neal is to remember to add cap lines to the rear of the busby and the end of the lines going around the neck - I almost forgot to add them!

Thanks for the info Paul and thanks for looking in. Hope you enjoyed the kit as much as I am doing. I’ve managed to get a bit further on with the gunner and the horse so I’ll post some more pics shortly. Good luck at BMSS.

Neal.

As mentioned above, I’ve managed to do some more work on the gunner and the horse. I’ve put on the main greatcoat colour in oils and worked in some shades/highs. The collar still needs finishing in oils and the boots. I’ve worked on the harnessing, sheepskin schabraque and started some detailing around the hooves and fetlock area and put the iris and pupil in. I might give the eye a coat of gloss varnish when dry to give it that sheen. Not much progress on the hussar other than basecoating the dolman in acrylic and painting the busby in oils. I’d undercoated this in black thinking the busby was black but some research suggested they were in fact brown fur so brown it is.

The Gunner is coming along very nicely as usual such natural colours.

With the horse may I suggest adding a little white to its eyes at it would be scared/startled. the gloss will add life too..

Keep up the good work.

Hi John, thanks for that. I’ve set the iris back and there is some white of the eyeball showing and some white catchlight in the pupil. It might be that it’s not showing up that well in the photos possibly due to the lighting.

Neal.

Progress has slowed a bit on this. I wasn’t happy with my first go at the crimson breeches and as a result went back over them. The hussar is starting to come together now but still a bit of tidying up to do on the lace of his dolman and the sword belt. Scabbard and sabretache still need doing and sword knot needs a coat of oils. As for the gunner I’ve added his sword but need to shade/highlight this and sort the straps out and then highlight the weight and paint the sponge on the ramrod. I’ve taken a couple of pics of the two figures together just to give an idea of the interaction.

Thanks Nap. Happy with the way it’s progressing, like you say they do work well together.

Neal.

Progress might be slow Neil but the results are well worth it. Keep going as it is coming along nicely I particularly like the horse.

As a side note you can always turn the gunner by 90 degrees so instead of pushing at the Hussar he is about to receive the saber blow on the plunger..

Regards

Thanks for the comments John, really appreciated. I’m waiting on a base arriving but have tried a bit of “mocking up”on a piece of paper roughly the size of the base to try slight variations on the positioning.
