I know this is not the usual forum for this type of subject, but I took a break from smaller historical figures and took on this large piece just to see if I could. It is a spectacular sculpt from Miles Teves. They made 900 of these resin units back in 1996. I found one in the original box at a recent show and had to get it. A real impulse buy and a real blast to paint.

Very nicely done, I like the fact that you haven't given him the green shades of the flesh tones but kept it quite realistic looking. Great shading.

Wow, simply outstanding work Greg! I'm a real fan of the "original" Karloff Frank and this one is perfectly rendered. NICE! (y)(y)

I don't think I could paint that! Congrats.....you really see the skill of sculptor and painter when you open the pix separately and zoom them up.

Wow! Considering the talent of the individuals that have responded I am very humbled. I will try to get better photos up if you like. I am experimenting with the camera. The bust was done all in acrylics. I usually use oils on smaller projects, as I am just trying to figure acrylics out. I bought a new airbrush but wound up doing 90% of it by hand, brush, sponge, towels, whatever I could find. It represents a lot of trial and error. At one point I scrubbed it down to the primer with alcohol and started over. The scrub resulted in a cool effect I was able to build upon. Thanks guys.

Wow, that is awesome! I had a chance to buy one of these a few years ago and didn't do it and now I wish I had. I do have the prepainted vinyl version though and it is a fantastic sculpt. You did a great job with it.

Greg - thats a fantastic result you have achieved mate,i love these large horror subjects and i'd love to have a go at one of these, problem is i hav'nt seen many about at the shows i've attended, they seem to be readily available though in the states and more popular over the pond than over here.
Thanks for posting, really enjoyed the photo's

Wow!! This is entirely the forum for this style of work. We cannot get enough of excellently painted works of art, and this sure is one. Lifesize scale must be hell to paint as I have done a couple of quarter scales that were hard enough. You have really captured the creature in all his glory and considering this is from a black and white movie you must have a real good imagination. I especially like the purple shades that you have used. Well done Sir. (y)
