Nice conversion. Wish I had your skills because I like the red coat as it gives it some color. I've been fussing with this one on and off since before lockdown so will follow your progress closely.

The painting of the figure completed, horse underway. I have used Vallejo acrylics and Humbrol enamels on the figure with oils for the flesh. The horse furniture is also a mix of acrylics and enamels. The Household Cavalry trumpeters ride greys that are in effect white, and I assume the same was true in the 19th century, however tempting it is to do some dapple colouring. The horse has been painted in oils in front of the saddle, the rear half, mane and tail are awaiting painting. Although the shading looks fairly heavy 'in the flesh', it hardly shows under bright light. I need to tidy up the harness, add reins and finish the base.

Interesting conversion, Mike - just for info, cavalry puttees were wound top to bottom, infantry bottom to top! Dunno why, but there you go...!!(y)
Hi there! The reason why cavalry putties were taped at the bottom was so they didn’t catch or tangle in the stirrup leathers.
Absolutely great figure!
