Here are three 1/10 busts I completed in 2018. feel free to be brutally honest. I am 64, my eyes are not as sharp or my hands as steady as they once were, but I would still like to improve if possible. Also, please let me know if the medallions are a plus or a minus

These are all very nicely painted and l wouldn't dream of criticising. I'm 72 and still learning and improving. Last night l tried something new with crossbelts and was pleased with the result, l also tried a new mix for painting black. I'm not a natural artist but find that following the techniques on some of the great painters on here a big help.
I download colour mixes and pictures of finished figures, print them out and put them in a binder.
Don't be afraid to experiment, like you l paint oils over acrylic or enamels.

Nice work. I am not a painter (sculptor only), so, for criticism, you have to turn to other forum members, but your work is nice and I agree with Keith. It's great to try to improve your skills, and here you are in the right place. Welcome in :).

Cheers Borek :)

Hi there

Thanks for sharing your work and well done on all 3 , all have difficult areas to deal with , white , chain mail , metallics

Possibly put a wash over the medals/ star and helmet plate ....look at the Article tab atbtop of each page there is one one eyes.

As for the medallions , I like the addition of them ..where did you get them from ?

Happy benchtime

I live in Japan (retired military) and there is a fashion fad with the kids these days for all sorts of medal, medallions and insignia. They are available quite cheaply.

All three look very respectable to me, Jambrdly, and I am not in a position to be critical. The only comment I can offer relates to the crusader, where arguably the head scarf is too black: maybe shading over a dark grey undercoat may have given a wider contrast between highlight and shade.
But overall, very agreeable work - and I look forward to seeing more in future,
Cheers,
Pat
