Your execution of this figure is just superb.
IMO, this is one of the best, if not THE best rendering of an old man's face and flesh I've ever seen - the watery, somewhat injected eyes, the atrophic skin of old age, are amazing!
Would love to learn some of your secrets here :)

Cheers,

Benny

Hi Neil

It's a great subject , the fieshtones look really good in keeping with his age IMO

Like the weathering you've done and the helmet badge

If I may ask ...bit unsure about the shirt is it blood stained in the original picture ?

Thanks for sharing

Look forward to the next one from you

Happy benchtime

Nap

Thanks very much Kev.
You may be right about blood - I wondered about it myself but I decided not to. There is no blood on the jacket lining, so I decided the dark colour was the shirt underneath

Wow Benny that's very kind of you to say!
'Secrets'....very flattering but that is exactly what they are, even to me! I have no formula, I flounder around mostly. I'm a very instinctive painter, and as I said this is the first time I've painted anything this big since the old Airfix 1-12 scale figures in my teens( in the seventies...).That was using Humbrol enamels(and certainly not something I would post on this site!). I'm still getting to grips with acrylic techniques.
I can't pretend I am not very pleased with the result, but there's no guarantee the next one will be as good. Must be beginner's luck!
But thank you again for such a kind comment
