Vehicle kits are in 1:35th scale. . . thus
Wow, after what Mike Good wrote, I'm not sure I should bring this up. But,
one Planeteer asked why did 1:35th scale figures get started in the first
place. And as well, I could ask the question, why are manufacturers
producing 1:48th scale figures?
Altho this is a web site for figure sculptors and painters, there are a great
deal of model builders who do vehicle kits; i.e. armored vehicles
and wheeled vehicles. Also there are a great many model builders
who build aircraft models. And for vehicles, the most popular scale
is 1:35th, for aircraft the most popular scale is 1:48th. Many of
these model builders, and that includes me, create vignettes and
dioramas, they set up a scene that could include figures — of
civilians, women and children, and military troops from the various
historic periods as well.
But of course, they would not be posting their work here. I thought most
model builders were familiar with the other genrés in the big field of
model building, but perhaps I was incorrect.
Anyway, I hope that answers the question, as to why manufacturers
release figures in 1:35th scale.
