Yeah I agree Kev ref the turban/Paggri, I also need to thin the thickness of it down a bit too, will sort that tomorrow, I think I'm right in saying that the turban/paggri was not a fitted item as per the foreign service helmets of later 19th cent, I think it was more of a loose fitted cloth that was added to the helmet, judging by old photos of seen, I'm not really sure?..??
The pugri on this helmet was a silk scarf loosely wound around, with a twist front and back (the loose ends were tucked in). The pics Nap posted were stitched in place at manufacture, to emulate this affectation... Hope this helps
Hi Jim
Agree ref thinning it down and as confirmed by Steve it was loose fitting with the twists front and back ..cheers Steve
Look forward to the next update

Thanks Steve, that has helped me, not sure if I should strip the Pagri off and start again or just thin it down?
Cheers
Jim
I would take it off ....be easier the get the front and back right without risking the helmet
Happy sculpting

It's coming off...So when you say a twist front and back I presume then that the pagri looked the same front & back with that diagonal cross over of the silk? is that right?
Jim
Looking quickly at my booky things ...yes
Hope you've washed that vest

No problems! Yes, it looks the same front and back. Id go for informal creases and non uniform appearance.... Also, the helmet is made up of six stitched panels, not four, but only four brass lion heads at the base of the spike. Puggaree was indigo dyed silk...
