Post those references I sent you of the helmet ...that was a Indian Army one

Personally I would follow that but not sure what references Steve has

Carry on scratching yer bonce !

Or like this?...I know it's a later date helmet but it seems to be what we are talking about...Yes or no, cos I'm a bit confused now

My thoughts are there were variations esoecially for officers who often bought their own equiptment ...based on regulations

I agree Kev, from what I can make out a lot of these "Albert" style helmets were probably locally made out of felt/leather/cork etc, there must have been variations in shape and accoutrements to individual helmets purchased by Officers from local Indian traders back in the day,
I've cut in the 6 panels into the helmet, now going to start the pagri again(y)
Cheers

TBH, I think you could go with any or all of the variations...! As youve said, the British officers were a law unto themselves and obtained and tailored items to suit. Especially during the Mutiny period, I think it was a case of "anything goes"..!! Go with the pic, as the lions heads are embossed into the wide part of the arrowhead, so may not show too proudly...

Yep will do Steve, thanks for your input it's helped me along with this one, along with Kev's input too, it's always bit of a minefield when it comes to getting these period pieces right..(y)
Cheers

Glad to be of assistance, Jim! I think the helmet version looks better than the turban. IMO, the turban looks far too neat and modern for the era, needs to be much fuller and looser with creases.(y)

I'm maybe going to call this done now ready for priming, it may not be historically spot on but it's close enough for what I want, I might yet add four small lion heads on the helmet top brass work, not sure yet, but at the moment I'm waiting for the magic sculpt to harden before adding any extra detail, I'm happy with how it looks.
Cheers
