Hi Colin

Nice to see he’s now got the sword in place , good start on the boots ...you using Inks over acrylics or just Oils ?

A good point about the contrast on larger figures

Looking forward to seeing more

Have fun at the bench

I rarely if ever use oils anymore Kev. Acrylics are my medium of choice and always with acrylic inks. I have just started playing with acrylic gouache and have used these paints mixed with standard hobby and artist acrylics to good effect.Still lots of extra painting to do on Gerard and I plan on dirtying him up a bit. Thanks

All my acrylic inks are from the art store. I generally use Liquitex and Rowney but also various European brands. I’m not brand loyal and different brands’ colours may differ. For example I have 4 different sepia inks and they range from a bark brown to a greenish black.

The key things to remember is to dilute them heavily and to avoid letting them pool as they dry (I use a large filbert brush to lift off excess ink as it dries).

Thanks Kev

A bit more progress on the hands, Legion sash, dispatch case and epee.

The sash was updated with inks and Liquitex acrylic gouache. This paint is relatively new to me. I bought a sampler. Good paint for washes and filter effects, bright colours, quick drying. Does well over other acrylics.

Thanks Nap.

The despatch case is just the base colour so far. Hands are just initial shading.

Hi Colin

Agree with Simon says , you’ve added your own personal touch to this and it looks so good, there will be no backsliding I’m sure

Look forward to the big finish and final pics in the Completed Forum
