Cant you sculpt a small figure for the cockpit? In 1/144 it doesnt need great detail, and it will be hidden by the canopy. Mind you, is there any cockpit detail in the kit? Is it worth it? Your idea of the reflected clouds is probably beter. It certainly will stand out.

It wasnt until i had tried (first time ever) sculpting the face clip, that i thought of doing that, but by then the sides of the harrier were all glued up and i hadnt put the seat in. No detail in the cockpit at all, just a blob of plastic for the seat , no control panel, side panels or even a stick, nowadays 1/144 kits have all that. will try the canopy idea i think.

No figure provided for the cockpit ( in the kit) and to get one , none in the uk, would have cost over £30!, but cant leave the seat empty, hence my idea to paint the glass as if reflected clouds and sky, lol.

That's a good idea about painting the glass , look, forward to seeing it

Finally got him all cabled up, 0.5mm lead wire for the mic headset cable and 15amp fuse wire for the clip connector cables. I had to replace both clips on the helmet as they snapped off. Pull tag is 2mm masking tape.

Harrier is progressing well. Plinth has been ordered from Petes Bases, name plate is on its way from Nameit, just waiting for the DFC and AFC to come into stock and these will also be added to the sides of the plinth.

Hi Steve

That's looking really good indeed , nice detailing on him

Nice to see your adding the DFC and AFM ...look forward to seeing them and the plane all based up

One sea Harrier;

Happy with the build and painting, base mottling has worked good, not so sure about the canopy, but it is what it is now. BTW the canopy is way oversize and the wrong shape. One of the decals crumpled, so its not going to win any prizes lol

Nice work!

Not so sure about that position of the Harrier though...it’s at about crotch-height if you know what I mean. Or perhaps that makes it the best place for making a statement!

Or mounted diagonally at the corner next to the badge??

Oh yep, didn't see that.

Hi Steve

I agree ref the plane position , looks a little odd , where Ferris said is a good idea

I would also put the badge closer to the base ie: remove the pin and glue

Yiu could also perhaps put the harrier at a angle on the front and put tge nameplate at the back or sides

Why not enter a piece into the class of your choice in our May's FOTM comp and also vote in Aprils classes as well

....And enter in Vignettes & Diorama #3 which will be set up for 1/5/21 running till 31/01/22

Always good to see the artwork

Thanks for sharing

Look forward to the next

Really nice work connected to one of my fave planes of all time - I even built a rather excellent kit of a SHAR in 1/48 scale.
