Well there was a good chance being my first WW2 bust he was going to end up as one muddy mess as there's so much olive green, olive drab and khaki so I've used artistic license with the colours to make the M42 jump suit jacket a bit more on the tan side so the green would stand out, thank you Vallejo WW2 Allies paint set which pretty much contained every colour I needed.

There's a WIP is here as I negated to post it on the site as well.

I really like the colours you have used for the uniform and over all this is a really good take on this kit. If you are wanting a few pointers here is what I would concentrate on in future busts in this scale.
I like the colour and tones of his skin, but I think you could punch in a few more shadows to give some more depth to the flesh. A slightly darker hue under the eyes and in the folds of his skin would do this. A thin wash would probably do this for you.
With the uniform, I looks as though you have dry brushed the highlights on, which in a small area can suit well, but on larger areas, doesn't look as nice. I know it takes a lot longer, but using your paints thinned and slowly building up the shadows and highlights layer by layer, would give softer transitions in these areas.
You have some really good grounding with your painting, but a little extra work will give you some even better results

Thank you for the comments and thank you Ben, I'll be doing another of these, spare head looks so lonely he needs a body, so I will be painting the highlights and shadows, I've bought the Andrea publication on painting figures with acrylics and am studying that to see how it's done, also bought the face colours paint set to see if their system for painting skin tones is any easier. I understand what you mean about the skin, I think I'm concentrating on getting the flesh tone right and forgetting the shadows or scared it will look too much like a caricature or overdo it and have to start again, I've just completed the Nuts Planet Saladin bust and have darkened the shadows a bit more, to be honest he could probably go even darker, I'll post pictures and await your comments.

Mick: It seems we have similar tastes in busts. Very nice work on Captain Winters. I like that you painted the other head. Now I`ve seen this bust plus your Saladin bust which I liked very much. Do you have any more posted that I`m missing? if so let me know. Keep up the wonderful work my friend. Have a great day. Paul......................

Excellent work on this wonderful sculpt Mick (y)!

I do agree with Ben though. I think if you push the lights and darks a bit more, you will notice a difference that will make details pop, and be a little more pleasing to the eye in general.
