Hi Malc

It looks like a high quality super quick paint job that.
I do think it's showing of a bit to put 1minute on the knapsack.

I would leave the rifle off, the bust looks great without it....
You then have to buy another to ustilise the spare Springfield.
I can't believe you hadn't planned that already. :D

Paul.

Hi Nap

I just have to fill in the section of neck scarf where the rifle would rest and the leather strap where the rifle would attach.
And after Paul's endorsing my thoughts, I'm going to go ahead and leave the rifle off.
Decision over.:)

Ok folks......
New decision, what do I paint next?????
I'm retiring at the end of the week, so will have more time on my hands.:D
My wife has made a suggestion............. The house.:(

Hmmmmm, Balin, Kingdom of Heaven, Pirate Fury or the The Mercenary..... more decisions, although I get the feeling, the house will take precedence.:depressed:

I must admit , when I painted this one , I put the musket on. The wife didn't like it. What do they know, anyhow, I now prefer it off.
That is superb paint work, like it lots.
As to the house, it looks like RAIN.

Go for the rifle. I think the proportions of the bust are right for the added bit of detail..often waving well enough alone is a good plan, but I am intrigued to see how it would look

Hi Johnny
Thanks for the feedback, but I've just returned from the bench, after adding the detail with Magic-Sculpt.
Having done it, I'm personally happy with the decision to leave it off.

Here's the photos, showing the minor alterations required.
Thought that was all that was required Doh, had a senior moment.
Have now added what was missing, I'll post a photo later.

All that's required now is a to refine the adjustments and apply the paint. :)

Cheers Paul

I have to admit I'm rather pleased myself with the way the reds have turned out.
Just finished off the adjustments to the strap, so with any luck I'll have it finished next weekend.:)
Got to admit this has been a fun bust to paint.

Malc

Wow - this is looking great.
In a similar fashion, I painted my version exclusively with the Scale75 range (no oils though). I like the range a lot; however, for me I found that for things like flesh, the finish is too matt and I had to use satin varnish to get the look I wanted...

Phil

Hi Phil

When I first began painting many, many years ago, I painted in acrylics. A tip I received when painting flesh, was to add some milk, to get a egg-shell type finish.

Could be worth a try with Scale 75 paints.

Malc

Hi Malc,

That's actually an interesting tip; I'll have to take a look and see if there is any in the fridge :)

As promised, here's a photo with the correct alterations.

Roll on the weekend and I can add the paint. :)
