This guy is just about done. Needs some tweaks to his ammo pouch, Airborne insignia and general tidying up. Just waiting on a replacement barrel for the 30 cal and I'll finish his left arm and hand which is just blu-tacked on.
I'm moving on to a new project at the moment so thought I'd just show him now.

Really enjoyed doing him and tried a few new things including acrylic shading over an oil wash (Yes Ron, acrylics over oilss mate...lol) to try and put some multi tones onto the large areas that 200mm scale shows.

See what you think.

Contrast between leather and cloth are superb. These larger figures can so easily be overdone - this however - spot on. Brilliant work!

Hello Grant, Carl is right about the boots, they do look great. Please post a photo when you have him finished, looking forward to seeing him with the 30 cal. A beautiful figure Grant. Congrats, Regards, SG

Love it! Really cant fault it like the others liking the finish on the boots and nice colour contrasts as big figures can look abit like dragon figure dolls without proper handling ie airbrushed, im working on an alpine us para and I know how difficult it is with the limited pallet of colours a u.s uniform offers to get away from a monochrome apperance, great skills.mick

Awesome figure, awesome paint job Grant.

Obviously he's very clean at the moment. I hope you'll be slapping some dirt on him before you call him finished??

Curios to get your thoughts on whether this 200mm version is better/ worse/ similar to the 120mm version?

Fantastic looking figure, well done on the uniform colour, can i ask what paint you used and colour. roy.

Well blow me down.......oils over acrylics....never thought of that one......lol

Bloody superb mate, You really have got the contrast spot on in all areas. Love it.

Cheers

Ron

The fact that the 120mm guy doesn't look like he is falling over backwards, and is actually grasping the barrel of the 30 cal, make the smaller guy more desirable IMHO.

Very nice work, I also love the boots...recipe for boots?
My version is still pre-paint as I'm adding missing equipment etc....cheers Les

Hi Les,
Cheers mate.

The boots are:
Iraqi sand acrylic base then liberally apply burnt sienna oil paint and then wipe it off.
Dry brush orange brown then german camo beige.
Vallejo sepia ink diluted with water wash quite a few times.
Then wash with diluted Vallejo woodgrain.
Straight Vallejo black Ink pinwashed in the seams and shadows.

hope this helps.

Hi Jas,

He doesn't look like he's falling over in real life. He looks like he's carrying a rather heavy machine gun and he's slouching to give his back some respite.

Cheers,

Gells
