300mm Falklands Para with GPMG

Hello Folks
Working on my next 300mm project which is a monster of a kit from Moz Corry depicting a Parachute Regiment GPMG gunner Falklands.
I've just assembled one which took me some time especially the link ammunition which is cast in strips and quite delicate. Anyway Ive taken some pics and will be casting some next week. I'm taking pre orders for the kit which weighs over a kilo and is back heavy once assembled due to the big rucksack. Bear this in mind when ordering a plinth.
The soldier is wearing the old style steel helmet which offered a bit more protection than the newer issue paratrooper helmet. I'll be looking to produce some alternate heads with berets to represent other regiments of the 1970/80's. I'm also looking to make an SLR version available.

In this scale, how difficult/ expensive would it be to do photoetch link and turned brass ammo?

Now he's a big boy!...Superb looking figure, looks really nicely sculpted,
I'm not sure though how he has the spade stowed inside the bedroll, think I'd attach it to his pack somewhere, (just my personal opinion) it's a great looking Falklands piece with loads to paint, should look very impressive once painted

Is it just me, but i have the feeling that painting a big figure like this is more difficult, since its so obvoius if the paint isnt right. More chance for
failure, but maybe also more reward if you can pull it off masterly. I would like to try it, but it is also a bit intimidating.

You could always stick the shovel in the bergen straps and add a bit for the shaft and redo the straps.

Especially when it comes to highlights and shading, which must be much more subtle than in the smaller scales.

Can the figure be build without the bergen? When I painted my 200mm Para by Maurice, I got a lot of comment (most from Paras) that the paras didn't really carry their bergens in the Falklands. I would deffo reposition the spade.

Yes, I guess I didn't word my query very well..
I didn't mean that the Paras never wore their Bergens, they certainly did when they landed of course. I wanted to know if the option was there to leave the bergen off.
It would give an option to paint a relatively clean and "fresh" Para just landed, or a filthy Para taking a breather after a battle.

Obviously Gordon knows his target market , big yes but will certainly be very impressive painted up ....or you could always bronze effect it if you didn't want the coldcast version from Moz
