Today i have received an order from ebay.
A gun position from Table top minis in 28mm, and 20 gabions from renedra suitable for 28mm.
I just ordered to see if the size could work, with the intention of return if it did not.
The gabions are quite large for a 28mm figs, so ot will work for my 40mm, i will add some height with putty having the same patter and i know it will fit perfect.
As for the gun position it is a tad small, but seems to be ok for the marine and bombardiers cannon, so i will figure something out to put it to use.
I have wood sticks which i could build the ground for the gun position, and the gabions, so that it will be part of another thread named French Royal.Artlery.
So , for now i will focus on setting these seamen up and ready.

Hi Daniel ,

Great painting , those gabions look good , and what is thus we see another thread on the horizon as well ...French Royal Artillery ....book me a seat ..popcorn ordered!

Thanks for sharing

Nap

Welcome Nap, i am getting my hands itchy to start the Artillery, not only painting two 12lbs cannons but also converting all of those artlery crews from front rank and trident to the French, it will be lots of work, so get your popcorn and few beers hahah

Today i started to work on the 28mm gun position .
I am so thrilled on how it looks, still lots of work.
It was already primed , i paint it a base of vallejo Panzer Aces highlight afrika korps on the wood floor and added some buff onto the mix for the gabions.
Once dry, i gave it a wash of vallejo smoke.
I have painted the ground with vallejo earth , then added real ground earth on some areas, added some left over tufts and it looks much much better.
More progress pics tomorrow...

Daniel the buff and smoke work well.
Great result.

Have you tried their woodgrain?

Its a red brown version of smoke and well worth using.

Paul

Hi Paul, yes, i have their natural woodgrain, wood grain and smoke.
The one you have mention i use for the wood canteens , but i find the smoke works much better on the muskets and well duted on other wood surfaces .
The red brown wood grain is to "reddish" , sometimes i mix a little bit of smoke with it to bring that red down, still a great color to use.
Cheers
