WIP 40mm Carabiniers de Monsieur, 1779-1786

Finished the hat, finished the blue coat, except for the seams.
I decided to go a little shy on the lights to keep this coat to a very dark blue.
I painted the base color for the face, added some shadows and painted the eyes.....

Good idea, a little suggestion is to go a bit darker with the shading to compensate.

Thanks mate, i was considering that last night, it is really hard to show up any lights when the uniform is so dark, obvikusly depends on the materiel of the coat.
But these chaps were pristine on their appearence and , above all, this is an officer and they are not in campaign.
I will have to aplly directly black on the creases.

I have seen pictures of this beautiful uniform, some piics show it really dark blue, some pics show it as a Royal Blue.
These 2 images show the Comte ( count ) de Moret , in 1773 before the change the vest to a white.
The other pic is the Comte de Provence ( Future Louis XVIII).

I added a black wash to the coat, finished the face .

I am starting to work on the horse now, carabiniers ride on black horses furnished with dark blue housimgs trimmed in white for troopers and silver lace for officers.

...I am lucky don't need a uniform to impress the ladies ....just my natural charm ....I wish..lol

Horse ....be interesting how you highlight the steed obviously a thoroughbred being an officers mount

I did some lights adding the base color ( black) plus a little bit of german grey , basic blue and re-touch the shades, but i think i will push the lights a little bit more.
