They have funky names indeed,
I am holding onto these 3 pots from the former " Citadel Old guard" Foundation paints.
I know i my heart that no Paint ever will be as good for me as these 3 colors.
Charadon granite goes 100% on every boot/ shoes and sword scabbard i paint, Tallarn flesh is my base color for every face i paint.
Fenrys grey is my to go paint for worn blue uniform .

Their Rhinox Hyde is a very dark brown, needs a couple of coats as it isn't very opaque but is my go to brown for just about everything.

Cheers Simon

Finished the sword, re- touched some areas and layed the base color for the boots, the brown/red leather portion of the boots is done.
The lace received an overall wash of Army painter Sepia .

Started my work on GW.
The original figure had a sash around the waist, based on most of the paintings of Washington at Yorktown, mostly none show either a sash on the waist or bandoleer style.
Added magic sculpt to the areas of the vest that needed fixing.
Primed the figure with Vallejo Brush on ( white).

Yes! I never really thought about it directly before, but you're right.

The blue ribbon, as some called it back then, was a sign of his rank as commanding general of the Continental Army. Major-generals and lieutenant-generals had their own colors, too, if I remember correctly. And looking now at various images-paintings, etchings, etc-I see the same thing. Either he wore the blue ribbon, or not. I'd bet that the times he didn't wear it, it was for convenience's sake. Washington understood ceremony, but he also knew that he was instantly recognizable, with or without his badge of rank.

I found only one illustration (here, stored at Alamy), which looks like a lithograph produced much later, and it shows Washington and other American generals wearing the same waist sash as their British counterparts, and all in a very dark red. I think it's artistic license.

I think you've made a good choice to add it, if I may say so. Looking forward to your next instalment!

Prost!
