Chippy: Here's my answer, my friend

Hi Chippy:

So sorry to hear about all that snow you folks in the UK are getting; and about
the traffic. Sounds like time to tip a pint, mate. ;);)

The Roundhead figure will be going to the IPMS/USA Nats in Omaha next
Summer. It is our top competition in this nation for our society. IMHO,
some of the top figure artists in America live in the Heartland. So the
competition will be really fierce. The judges will be looking down on top of
the horse and rider, the boot tops are open, and you can see down inside
that wide mouth cuff. Some of my pistols will go down inside those boots;
same thing for the holsters which have been redone on my vacuform, so
the insides will be hollow. Naturally, I will have to saw off the tips of the
pistol barrel so each pistol will fit, but you will be able to see the grip, the
trigger mechanism and the locking levers, quite easily. Plus I wanted the
experienced learned from this effort; as I've never tried this in a 54mm
scale before. I did scratchbuild a flintlock musket, stock carved from wood,
once for a figure, but that was approx. 120mm figure.

Kind regards, the Rickster

I'm 10 % that didn't get the word, Ian

Hi Ian:

It is always so nice to hear from you Ian. I will say that I am completely in
the dark about Stan Cathcpole articles. I presume he wrote for the Military
Modeling publication?? Like so many things out there, I seem to be part of the
ten percent that didn't get the word.

Thanks mate,

rick

Rick he used all these ideas and more and used to publish them as a small article in MM every month for several years -from painting Tartans,Scenery Ideas,Basing and using sprue

but great to see what you are doing mate
Ian

Thanks Ian

Thank you Ian, for clearing that up. I am a stronger believer in the
philosphy of "Pay it Forward". A number of mentors were a great help to me
in showing me the ropes about scratchbuilding. And this was of course,
way before Photo Etched Parts and Resin aftermarket. And so I feel a sense
of loyalty to our beginners who come to this site.

G'day, mate,

rick
