A very nice paint job. I like it. One minor detail though. Guardsmen don't wear gloves in tunic order. Only Sergeants upwards wear white gloves in the summer months.

Pete, now the real question since you have brought that great point! To paint Sergeant stripes or repaint the hands! Ugh! Thanks for uniform expertise, I half expected one or two veterans to point out areas I missed. That's why I love this site.

Hi Mike,
Very nice painting. I especially like the reds. Would you share what colors you used?

I used vellejo: Vermilion, and Carmine Red for the base with a touch of Cavalry brown and a little green to soften it. Added vermilion for the highlights. Later I added a touch of scarlet to the highlights. Final highlights were done with Orange Red. For the shadows I used a touch of green and dark Cadium Red.

I hope that helps.

Making him a Sergeant would be more complicated. You'd have to add the chevrons (always chevrons in the Guards, never stripes!), add the sash over the right shoulder, and repaint the collar and shoulder badges as they are embroidered in silver for Sergeants. It would be simpler to repaint his hands!
