Fantastic work Paul an excellent figure. Have a bit of an issue with your back story though. The Wagram campaign was notorious for the wet and muddy conditions, lack of supplies and general hardship, he looks too pristine for having gone through that. Otherwise brilliant.

Well, he’s had a chance to spruce himself up a bit since then. :)

Looking superb, and the next project also looks like it will be a cracker.

I’ve got a couple of stock figures I think I’m going to paint as a bit of rest from the Historex kits. Creatively Historex kits are very flexible and satisfying to do but they are very time consuming and labour intensive. It’ll be nice to just enjoy painting after someone else has done all the heavy lifting (and done it better than me :) )

Hi Paul

That gunner looks great , really neat lacework on him , love the dark blue as well as the pose , nice groundwork with the horse matching the figure in modelling skill

The other project looks fun , look forward to seeing more on that in a separate V Bench

This has been a fun V bench to follow , hope to see the final piece soon in the Completed forum

Have fun @ the bench

Nap

Thanks Nap - I’m very keen to get him done and off the bench this week.

Beautiful work Paul, he's going to look stunning with a green backdrop. Good luck with the varnish testing.

Love the conversion of the H&V figure.

Cheers Simon

The varnishing has been a bit of a pain finding exactly the right balance of matt but not too matt. Once I find a recipe I’m going to stick with it…forever. :)

Done but not dusted as I’ll probably be tweaking a few things for a little while. As usual when I’ve finished a project he just seems like the aggregation of all my mistakes but I’m sure I’ll be kinder to him when I haven’t looked at him for a while.

I second what Rob said, also agree that taking a step back helps you see the figure in a more positive light. Then there are the rest of who see a fantastic figure beautifully displayed, it's all differences in perception and if you were 100% happy with it there wouldn't be the drive to improve!

Cheers Simon

Yep, dissatisfaction does have its uses - someone should tell Mick Jagger. :)
