I currently have 2 54mm Civil War figures on my bench (workbench) that I'm using Shenandoah Miniature heads for and would like to see if the following manufactures spare heads would work with Shenandoah heads.

Pegaso spare heads

Ill Fuedo spare heads

Historex (NEWER resin ones)

It's a shame Hornet heads are Too small to use with the Shenandoah line. If anyone has these types to compare I would really appreciate some feedback. Thanks a lot.~Gary

Don't know about those heads Gary, but it is an interesting subject. I was very dissapointed when I purchased the 1/32 Civil War weapons from Wolf to find them seriously smaller than the stated scale. Variations in head sizes are possible, so differences between manufactures can occur (mind you, I think some variations are too dramatic) but weapon measurements surely should remain constant. I'm sticking with my tried and true manufacturers.

Those figures on your Vbench are excellent. My birthday in July.

Hey Gary,

Have you ever checked out Scale Link's line of heads? their a WW1 line but the early French heads with kepi are pretty nice! I get mine from The Red Lancers in PA. just my 2 cents. (y)

Gary , personally I've used spare heads from Shenandoah.Thing is that even within the same manufacturer the size can vary. For example I've used a head from this line that when correctly measured goes up only to 52mm ( 1/35 ).But then again I've used other heads from their line that are slightly bigger. Recently I've used Mussini's.Even here one set varies from the other.Whilst one is more like 60mm the other is definately 65mm. So I think that you just have to have quite a few spare to adopt the one for that particular project.I hope this helps

Guys, Thanks for the input. I will compare the different makers at MFCA and see what I come up with. That size of head is something I do not have much luck with, otherwise I would just do my own.

Steve, Your Birthday is in July? Is that a subtle hint?~Gary

Hey Gary,

Just for a heads up hint ;) by birthday is also in July. Gary I have used and I am pretty happy with Mussini (sp) heads. They have two sizes. I would check them out. I have purchased all of their sets.

Hi Gary,
The new Antietam series depicting the 1st TX Brigade that I just released has been sculpted by using a Shenandoah figure as a "model" for scale. Compared to some of the European lines such as Andrea, Pegaso, etc., Shen is slightly on the smaller side of 54 mm, and I wanted these new 1st TX figures to be compatible.
The Antietam vignette shows 4 figures, but there will be 4 or so add'l figures in this series introduced at MFCA, and the entire series (except the dead figure) has unattached heads.
There are also future releases scheduled (this first Antietam vignette is "Part 1".), all with unattached heads.
Most figures have TX stars on their kepis or slouch hats, but they can easily be removed.
Pls see me at MFCA to look at the figures. I will eventually sell the heads separately.
Regards,
John

Hi Gary.
As Joe said,Mussini heads are more or less the same size of Shenandoah heads.

Mine is in a few days,in May ;)

Guys, Thanks for the additional info. I guess I'll pick up which ones are compatible, but in the end will stuggle a bit to do my own until I come up with a system for sculpting 54mm heads that works for me. Thanks again.~Gary

So many Birthdays so little time.

Gary et al:

Canadian manufacturer Ultracast (www.ultracast.ca) has 2 Civil War head sets for 54 mm figures - one has 4 bare heads (#54002), the other has 4 heads wearing kepis (# 54001).

I've used them on Shenandoah bodies quite successfully. Here's the URLs to two of them:

1. 124 New York at Gettysburg, 1863:

and 2. Army of Tennessee at the Battle of Franklin, 1864:

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Hornet has 1/32 heads. Most are without hair. The facial expressions, including beautiful mouths (with exposed teeth and gums) are deeply sculpted and quite remarkable.
