Afternoon one and all. I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

After a brief dalliance with a couple of busts it was back to get this figure completed (I've posted a thread showing the build and paint process in the WIP forum for anyone interested) :)

It's a conversion of one of the classic Metal Modelles 54mm kits (basically a new horse, head and headgear with a couple of minor revisions elsewhere). All painted in acrylics and mounted on one of Oakwood's very nice bases.

Hi Leggy

What to say except a mighty fine bit of artwork , love the uniform colour also interesting the pouchbelt is buff rather than white

The horse is a very nice colour , think you should do a full dapple as well

Nice basework complimenting the leggy thing...lol

Why not enter a piece into FOTM and also vote in the previous month

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Thanks gents :)

Maybe try a dapple next time K. (I've got a couple of other trumpeters to do) She started life as a white horse with white mane and tail, but I decided that they overpowered the yellow too much and made everything too shouty so I toned her down a bit. :D

Absolutely stunning, the groundwork compliment's the figure.
Uniform colour is superb.
Well done Paul, virtual slap on the back.

Thanks, Paul. Though I’ve been observing what’s been going on, after a long lay-off I’ve only recently got back into the hobby. Having seen this I wonder why I bother – this is so damn good it makes me ill!

Cheers Guys (y)

A virtual slap on the back eh Bob :D Nice one mate and we're both on the next one already . . .

I'm very flattered Jeff :p
I hear what you are saying, but as a recent returnee myself I've got say that it gets easier. I used to spend too long fiddling and fussing with the same figure until I realised that the best way of improving was to press on and complete the one you are working on as well as you can and then call it done and move on to the next one taking the best bits which you've learned and putting them in the bank for later projects. I know looking at this there are parts which nearly got what I was trying for, but weren't quite there. Some areas, having a done a few similar, are much less of a problem than when I first tried them (such as reins and horse furniture) so take far less time because I've worked out a way to do them. Other parts I'm still working on (such as pushing contrast in the painting and getting a 'cleaner' build)

Onward and upwards folks:)

Absolutely amazing!
Yellow colour can be great, but it's really difficult to deal with.
Glad to have seen this beauty!

Take care, All!

Thanks gentlemen :)

I'd not done a yellow uniform previously and was quite taken with the idea (a black primer isn't ideal!)
I've got another figure with yellow planned and might try a more subdued tone on that one. This one uses purple and a touch of grey mixed into the yellow for the shadow areas - I could probably have pushed them a bit more, but with the rest of the figure pretty much done it would have meant re-balancing the whole thing so I left them as they are shown.

Stay safe folks
Paul
