Great paintwork on this bust makes for an excellent piece. But if I may say from a balance point of view, I'm not crazy about the elongated bust look. Your first pic looks close to the best cutoff point. That's just my opinion......It's also my opinion that your painting gets better with each piece so keep up the good work.

Many thanks Wayne, I take your point, I did wonder that when I first got them but now I have done the set of five they have grown on me and have decided that when making the bases I shall use shorter timber as well as well as not have him sticking up so much on the stake, so less than 5mm between bust and base.

I must say that I have been very pleased with the heads as I go along.

Thank you again

Hi Geoff.
I did think about cutting it below the belt, but I thought it would spoil the Hussar & 6th Dragoon so stayed with what we have.
I mounted all on a block see pics plus the kettle drummer on a kettle drum.

Thanks Mick, I have got used to it Mick as I said and it does make a change.

Personally the one on the drum I think distracts from the bust even though it does look compatible for the bust concerned.
I shall mount them on a block about half the height of the one in the right hand pic.

I have just now finished The Irish Guard so that is the whole five done, pics to follow, so who was it that won in your book on how fast I would take.:LOL:;)

Cheers, and thanks for giving me a chance to paint them.
Geoff
